What Causes Menopause?

The most common reason for menopause is the natural decline in a female's reproductive hormones. However, menopause can also result from the following situations:

Oophorectomy: This surgery, which removes a woman's ovaries, causes immediate menopause. Symptoms and signs of menopause in this situation can be severe, as the hormonal changes happen abruptly.

Chemotherapy: Cancer treatments like chemotherapy can induce menopause quickly, causing symptoms to appear shortly after or even during treatment.

Ovarian Insufficiency: Also called premature ovarian failure, this condition is essentially premature menopause. It happens when a woman's ovaries quit functioning before the age of 40 and can stem from genetic factors and disease. Only 1% of women suffer from premature menopause, but HRT can help protect the heart, brain, and bones.

Depression

If you're a woman going through menopause and find that you have become increasingly depressed, you're not alone. It's estimated that 15% of women experience depression to some degree while going through menopause. What many women don't know is that depression can start during perimenopause, or the years leading up to menopause.

Depression can be hard to diagnose, especially during perimenopause and menopause. However, if you notice the following signs, it might be time to speak with a physician:

  • Mood Swings
  • Inappropriate Guilt
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Too Much or Too Little Sleep
  • Lack of Interest in Life
  • Overwhelming Feelings

Remember, if you're experiencing depression, you're not weak or broken - you're going through a very regular emotional experience. The good news is that with proper treatment from your doctor, depression isn't a death sentence. And with HRT and anti-aging treatment for women, depression could be the catalyst you need to enjoy a new lease on life.

Hot Flashes

Hot flashes - they're one of the most well-known symptoms of menopause. Hot flashes are intense, sudden feelings of heat across a woman's upper body. Some last second, while others last minutes, making them incredibly inconvenient and uncomfortable for most women.

Symptoms of hot flashes include:

  • Sudden, Overwhelming Feeling of Heat
  • Anxiety
  • High Heart Rate
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

Typically, hot flashes are caused by a lack of estrogen. Low estrogen levels negatively affect a woman's hypothalamus, the part of the brain that controls body temperature and appetite. Low estrogen levels cause the hypothalamus to incorrectly assume the body is too hot, dilating blood vessels to increase blood flow. Luckily, most women don't have to settle for the uncomfortable feelings that hot flashes cause. HRT treatments for women often stabilize hormones, lessening the effects of hot flashes and menopause in general.

Mood Swings

Mood swings are common occurrences for most people - quick shifts from happy to angry and back again, triggered by a specific event. And while many people experience mood swings, they are particularly common for women going through menopause. That's because, during menopause, the female's hormones are often imbalanced. Hormone imbalances and mood swings go hand-in-hand, resulting in frequent mood changes and even symptoms like insomnia.

The rate of production of estrogen, a hormone that fluctuates during menopause, largely determines the rate of production the hormone serotonin, which regulates mood, causing mood swings.

Luckily, HRT and anti-aging treatments in Jupiter, FL for women work wonders for mood swings by regulating hormone levels like estrogen. With normal hormone levels, women around the world are now learning that they don't have to settle for mood swings during menopause.

Weight Gain

Staying fit and healthy is hard for anyone living in modern America. However, for women with hormone imbalances during perimenopause or menopause, weight gain is even more serious. Luckily, HRT treatments for women coupled with a physician-led diet can help keep weight in check. But which hormones need to be regulated?

  • Estrogen: During menopause, estrogen levels are depleted. As such, the body must search for other sources of estrogen. Because estrogen is stored in fat, your body believes it should increase fat production during menopause. Estrogen also plays a big part in insulin resistance, which can make it even harder to lose weight and keep it off.
  • Progesterone: Progesterone levels are also depleted during menopause. Progesterone depletion causes bloating and water retention, while loss of testosterone limits the body's ability to burn calories.
  • Ongoing Stress: Stress makes our bodies think that food is hard to come by, putting our bodies in "survival mode". When this happens, cortisol production is altered. When cortisol timing changes, the energy in the bloodstream is diverted toward making fat. With chronic stress, this process repeatedly happens, causing extensive weight gain during menopause.

Low Libido

Lowered sexual desire - three words most men and women hate to hear. Unfortunately, for many women in perimenopausal and menopausal states, it's just a reality of life. Thankfully, today, HRT and anti-aging treatments Jupiter, FL can help women maintain a normal, healthy sex drive. But what causes low libido in women, especially as they get older?

The hormones responsible for low libido in women are progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone.

Progesterone production decreases during perimenopause, causing low sex drive in women. Lower progesterone production can also cause chronic fatigue, weight gain, and other symptoms. On the other hand, lower estrogen levels during menopause lead to vaginal dryness and even vaginal atrophy or loss of muscle tension.

Lastly, testosterone plays a role in lowered libido. And while testosterone is often grouped as a male hormone, it contributes to important health and regulatory functionality in women. A woman's testosterone serves to heighten sexual responses and enhances orgasms. When the ovaries are unable to produce sufficient levels of testosterone, it often results in a lowered sex drive.

Vaginal Dryness

Often uncomfortable and even painful, vaginal dryness is a serious problem for sexually active women. However, like hair loss in males, vaginal dryness is very common - almost 50% of women suffer from it during menopause.

Getting older is just a part of life, but that doesn't mean you have to settle for the side effects. HRT and anti-aging treatments for women correct vaginal dryness by re-balancing estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. When supplemented with diet and healthy living, your vagina's secretions are normalized, causing discomfort to recede.

Fibroids

Uterine fibroids - they're perhaps the least-known symptom of menopause and hormone imbalances in women. That's because these growths on the uterus are often symptom-free. Unfortunately, these growths can be cancerous, presenting a danger for women as they age.

Many women will have fibroids at some point. Because they're symptomless, they're usually found during routine doctor exams. Some women only get one or two, while others may have large clusters of fibroids. Because fibroids are usually caused by hormone imbalances, hysterectomies have been used as a solution, forcing women into early menopause.

Advances in HRT and anti-aging medicine for women give females a safer, non-surgical option without having to experience menopause early. At Global Life Rejuvenation, our expert physicians will implement a customized HRT program to stabilize your hormones and reduce the risk of cancerous fibroid growth.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis symptoms are much like the effects of PMS, and include pelvic pain, fatigue, cramping, and bloating. While doctors aren't entirely sure what causes this painful, uncomfortable condition, most agree that hormones - particularly xenoestrogens - play a factor.

Endometriosis symptoms are much like the effects of PMS and include pelvic pain, fatigue, cramping, and bloating. While doctors aren't entirely sure what causes this painful, uncomfortable condition, most agree that hormones - particularly xenoestrogens - play a factor.

Xenoestrogen is a hormone that is very similar to estrogen. Too much xenoestrogen is thought to stimulate endometrial tissue growth. HRT for women helps balance these hormones and, when used with a custom nutrition program, can provide relief for women across the U.S.

 Sermorelin Jupiter, FL

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic hormone peptide, like GHRH, which triggers the release of growth hormones. When used under the care of a qualified physician, Sermorelin can help you lose weight, increase your energy levels, and help you feel much younger.

 HRT Jupiter, FL

Benefits of Sermorelin

Human growth hormone (HGH) therapy has been used for years to treat hormone deficiencies. Unlike HGH, which directly replaces declining human growth hormone levels, Sermorelin addresses the underlying cause of decreased HGH, stimulating the pituitary gland naturally. This approach keeps the mechanisms of growth hormone production active.

  • Benefits of Sermorelin include:
  • Better Immune Function
  • Improved Physical Performance
  • More Growth Hormone Production
  • Less Body Fat
  • Build More Lean Muscle
  • Better Sleep
 Hormone Replacement Jupiter, FL

What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin helps to release growth hormones in a person's body by mimicking a peptide called ghrelin. Ghrelin is one of three hormones which work together to regulate the growth hormone levels released by the pituitary gland. Because Ipamorelin stimulates the body to produce growth hormone, your body won't stop its natural growth hormone production, which occurs with synthetic HGH.

Ipamorelin causes growth hormone secretion that resembles natural release patterns rather than being constantly elevated from HGH. Because ipamorelin stimulates the natural production of growth hormone, our patients can use this treatment long-term with fewer health risks.

One of the biggest benefits of Ipamorelin is that it provides significant short and long-term benefits in age management therapies. Ipamorelin can boost a patient's overall health, wellbeing, and outlook on life.

When there is an increased concentration of growth hormone by the pituitary gland, there are positive benefits to the body. Some benefits include:

  • Powerful Anti-Aging Properties
  • More Muscle Mass
  • Less Unsightly Body Fat
  • Deep, Restful Sleep
  • Increased Athletic Performance
  • More Energy
  • Less Recovery Time for Training Sessions and Injuries

6 Luxury Neighborhoods in Florida To Consider for Retirement

Florida has been a prime destination for retirees for generations. While the cost of living has gone up in the Sunshine State, tax incentives can mitigate some of that expense — then, of course, there’s the weather, the water, the culture, the climate and the endless number of communities and neighborhoods built with retirees in mind.

If You’re on a Budget: 5 Places in Florida Where You Can Live Only on Social SecurityAchieve More: 7 Surprisingly Easy Ways To Reach Your Retirement Goals

But if living costs aren’t a concern, and you plan to retire with a heavy nest egg and an outsized income, Florida has no shortage of towns, neighborhoods and villages where retirees can enjoy their golden years in luxury and splendor that’s unmatched anywhere in the country.

From the Atlantic to the Gulf Coast, Florida is packed with high-end communities designed with privacy, exclusivity and opulence in mind. From celebrity neighbors and golf courses frequented by PGA pros to pristine private beaches and islands that are off-limits to the general public, if you’ve got the cash, Florida has a luxury retirement neighborhood just waiting for you to arrive.

Fisher Island

A private island accessible only by ferry and closed to the public, Fisher Island just might be the most exclusive community in Florida. Formerly the winter retreat of the Vanderbilt family, the 216-acre island is a tropical paradise located at the southern tip of Miami Beach. In 2020, it was the richest ZIP code in America, with an average income of $2.2 million.

Looking like a real-life Caribbean postcard, the island is packed with world-class amenities, including a private golf course, a resort and beaches made of sand imported from the Bahamas. In order to live there, you’ll have to pay a $250,000 membership fee and be in the market for some very pricey real estate — the typical home there is worth $3.75 million.

Jupiter Island

If you want to retire among the likes of Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Celine Dion, Alan Jackson and Greg Norman, then Jupiter Island might be right for you — those are just a few of the ultra-wealthy enclave’s current and former residents. In 1959, the Miami Herald reported that there was “more wealth per square inch on Jupiter Island than any place in Florida.” More than 60 years later, little has changed.

The typical home there sells for more than $8.32 million. Its exclusive golf courses and clubs are at the center of the pro golf world, with some of the biggest names in the PGA claiming membership.

Manalapan

Around 400 residents call Manalapan home, as of 2010, and what a home it is. If you retire there, you’ll live out your days on a barrier island whose entire culture is dominated by the pristine water that surrounds it. Consisting of two water-linked areas nestled against the Intracoastal Waterway, it is a diver’s paradise — 175 yards offshore is the Florida Underwater Archeological Preserve and the famous Lofthus merchant ship dive wreck.

On the island itself is the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, which — along with its spa, trio of restaurants, tennis courts and private beach cabanas — consistently ranks as one of the top resorts in the state. The typical home there costs $4.24 million.

Sewall’s Point

Just north of Jupiter Island lies Sewall’s Point, where the typical home costs more than $1.38 million — and retirees who can swing it are sure to find that life there is worth every penny. A designated bird sanctuary, Sewall’s Point has been known as Tree City for more than two decades thanks to the ancient oaks that shade the town, which is surrounded on three sides by the St. Lucie River and the Indian River Lagoon. It’s known for its outstanding dining and shopping destinations, historical significance and stunning natural beauty.

Photo disclaimer: Photo is of nearby Stuart, Florida.

Boca Grande

On the Gulf side of the state just northwest of Fort Myers, you’ll find Boca Grande, which about 1,100 people call home — and the typical home they live in costs $3.21 million. The small, affluent, slow-paced Gasparilla Island community was one of the best-kept secrets in the state until the Bush family political dynasty revealed it as one of their favorite places to fish in the 1990s. Boca Grande is still known as a world-class tarpon fishing site.

It’s also home to the elite Gasparilla Inn & Club, an iconic resort with more than a century of history. The island is known for natural wilderness, miles of postcard beaches, mangrove swamps and oak palm hammocks.

Golden Beach

Golden beach — where the typical home costs $5.85 million — is next to Hollywood, nestled between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The oceanfront community covers 1.8 square miles bounded by the Intracoastal Waterway to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. It has been a town exclusively of single-family homes since it was founded in 1929. There are currently 364 of them.

Wealthy, exclusive and private, it’s famous for its cultural centers, fine dining and world-famous shopping destinations like the Village at Gulfstream Park, Aventura Mall and the Shoppes of Bal Harbour.

Lightning struck the Hillsboro Lighthouse, also known as “Big Diamond,” Thursday night knocking out power and exposing the perils of using the newest technology.

A temporary fix has the high-tech lighthouse, considered one of the brightest in the world, up and running again, shining its LED light into the Atlantic Ocean and Hillsboro Inlet. However, the lightning blew out two of three main breakers and a permanent fix will require replacement parts from the manufacturer in Australia.

“Thanks to a little rewiring, we’re back up and running! We still have to purchase backups for everything so the unit is powered properly, and we don’t want to go dark again,” read an update on the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse Facebook page.

The Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse is the only one in Broward, with Jupiter Inlet in Palm Beach County the closest to the north, and Cape Florida in Miami-Dade County the nearest to the south.

In May 2021, after 115 years in operation, the lighthouse was converted to LED from incandescent bulbs, illuminating it with much more intensity.

“It’s a much different system than lightbulbs,” said Ken Herman, president of the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society. “It’s controlled by a computer. It’s the first lighthouse with a moving lens and fixed lights that are LED.”

Raymond Coleman of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Aids to Navigation Team, charged with maintaining the lighthouse, said the LED light is supposed to last for a million hours. “Using new tech put us at a disadvantage, he said. “It not supposed to get struck by lightning.”

For decades, ships and boats at sea used lighthouse lights to navigate. While the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse still serves as a navigational aid to let boaters know where the inlet is, it’s not as crucial to safety as it was years ago. “Now boaters have GPS and are less dependent on the lighthouse,” Coleman said.

Still, he said, the Coast Guard issued a report after the lightning strike to let boaters know the lighthouse had gone temporarily dark.

On Friday night, a crew used a workaround, Herman said. “We were able to power our backup LED controller board, with the primary controller’s power supply,” he said. “Since the lighthouse’s LED only operates at 50% power, we felt that we wouldn’t blow out the power supply with too much power draw — and, it worked!”

Herman said a new unit will be ordered Monday from Sealite in Australia, which manufactures the equipment. He is unsure how long it will take to arrive.

The Hillsboro lighthouse is best known for being featured on a U.S. postage stamp. It stands tall at 142 feet high and has undergone several rounds of maintenance and upgrading. Tours are available, once again being given with the next ones scheduled for Oct. 8.

The next Miami Marlins affiliate we will get to in our 2022 season review is the Low-A Jupiter Hammerheads. The Low-A level was an interesting intersection between new draft picks, major leaguers on rehab assignments and some of the very best prospects in the organization. Also, many of the new rules coming to MLB in 2023 were in full effect for the Florida State League, including shift restrictions, the pitch clock and bigger bases.

Jupiter Hammerheads (63-66)

Yiddi Cappe

One of my favorite prospects in the organization is the Cuban native, Yiddi Cappe. He began the season with the FCL Marlins playing on the backfields of Roger Dean Stadium. He was the best player on that team, which is why he earned the promotion to Jupiter.

2022 Low-A Stats: .278/.299/.380/.679, 3 HR, 15 RBI

I believe that the key with Cappe has been consistency. He continued doing what he did in the FCL and at a pretty high rate. The main stat that jumps out was his low strikeout rate (13.2%), which was about twice as good as the overall Hammerheads strikeout rate.

It’s unclear when Cappe will move up to the next level. There is no rush—he just turned 20 years old—and his hitting dropped off a lot late in the season. He should make it to High-A around the middle of 2023 if he stays healthy and consistent.

Jacob Berry

The Marlins’ 2022 first-round pick had some ups and downs in his short stint with the Hammerheads. He showed flashes of being a solid hitter, hitting for pretty good contact and getting on base at a good rate. The doubt about Berry’s long-term impact is on the defensive side—he did not look comfortable at third base, which is the position that Miami drafted him to play.

Expect Jacob Berry to be playing in Beloit in 2023. The Marlins said they believed he could develop into a big leaguer quickly and they will promote him aggressively based on his college track record.

Ian Lewis

The Bahamas native was held back in extended spring training for the start of the 2022 season, but quickly made up for lost time. He slashed .349/.386/.476/.862 in May and stole 16 bases overall, tied for the highest total on the Hammerheads. Injuries limited him to 51 games.

Lewis is a switch-hitter with huge splits (.309/.396/.446/.842, 2 HR, 19 RBI as LHB; .130/.184/.130, 0 HR, 2 RBI as RHB). In the future, he might have to consider focusing all his attention on hitting from the left side.

Lewis is only 19. Like Cappe, he has a little more to prove before advancing to Beloit, but it wouldn’t be surprising if that promotion came early next year.

Kahlil Watson

The Marlins’ 2021 top draft pick had himself a rather messy first full season as a professional.

Watson began the season on a tear, looking like one of the best offensive players in the Florida State League. However, his struggles to put his bat on the ball got worse and worse, and it seems he let that affect him mentally with how he behaved on the field and in the clubhouse. Several incidents led to Watson being removed from games and things reached a breaking point on July 1, when he disputed a check-swing call by pointing his bat towards the first base umpire as if he were shooting a gun. The Marlins suspended him internally and sent him away from the team. He returned to the Hammerheads on July 29 after a quick FCL rehab assignment.

Watson was better after he returned (.258/.349/.452/.801 in 24 games) especially in terms of reducing his strikeouts, but he only hit one home run during that portion of the summer. He earned FSL Player of the Week honors for the final week of the 2022 season, ending on a high note.

He will probably begin the 2023 season at the High-A level.

Joe Mack

When healthy, Mack has been able to produce as expected offensively. Although he had almost a 30% K rate, he also showed a good eye at the plate and drew walks more often than any other Marlins prospect. That contributed to his super high .382 on-base percentage. It’s too soon to say for sure whether he has the defensive skill to remain at catcher for the rest of his career.

The Marlins are sending Mack to the Arizona Fall League to get him extra reps.

Torin Montgomery

Torin Montgomery looks like a possible steal for the Marlins as their 14th-round draft pick. At the Low-A level, he hit 3 homers and 16 RBIs with a .336 OBP.

Beyond the numbers, he has great raw power. Listed at 6’3” and 230 pounds, his body type reminds me of Avisaíl García’s body type. This is a big player who will hit you bombs.

Montgomery will most certainly be beginning next season at the High-A level.

The majority of players from the 2022 Marlins draft class also made appearances for the Hammerheads from July-September, including Marcus Johnson, Jacob Miller, Karson Milbrandt and Josh White.

Midseason promotions of note: José Salas, Zach Zubia, Osiris Johnson, Luis Palacios, Gabe Bierman and Kyler Castillo

You start to figure out who you are as a team by the time Week 4 rolls around they say. If that’s the case, we are getting a bit more confused on how things are going to pan out the rest of the way. Venice faced off versus a powerhouse in St. Frances Academy and couldn’t keep up in a 34-17 loss. Surprise of the night is when Bartram Trail went into the state’s capital and rolled 24-7 past an undefeated Lincoln team. Miami Central only played a half due to bad weather and that’s all they needed against Carol City in a 34-0 romp. There was just around 20 games going on around the state of Florida, so let’s recap Thursday night high school football in the Sunshine State.

Bartram Trail 24, Lincoln 7: The Lincoln Trojans went into the game averaging a cool 60 points per game on offense. That came to a grinding half when they faced Bartram Trail and were held to a single score. At halftime, Bartram Trail led 10-7 and added a couple more touchdowns to pull away. Lincoln now has a week to rest and then heads up to Moultrie, Georgia to take on state powerhouse Colquitt County.

Clay 28, Gainesville 10: The Blue Devils got on track offensively via the quarterback-to-wide receiver connection between Merrick Rapoza and Payton Dykas, as they notched win No. 2 on the season. Clay opened up the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown pass from Rapoza to Dykas. On their second touchdown, Rapoza would take it in himself on a short quarterback sneak. Up 14-7, the Blue Devils never trailed in this one and will face Tocoi Creek next week.

Jupiter 35, Suncoast 6: Looking to bounce back from last wee’s 28-0 loss to Martin County, Jupiter found the right antidote in facing off against Suncoast. The Warriors went up 28-6 going into the final quarter of play en route to defeating the Chargers. Jupiter gets a week off before facing Royal Palm Beach on Sep. 29. Suncoast falls to 1-3 on the season.

Palm Beach Christian Prep 48, Somerset Prep 0: Jadarius Patterson had himself a night against Somerset Prep, as the junior athlete went 11-of-17 for 138 yards, four touchdowns in a rout of SLAM West Palm Beach. Palm Beach Christian looked like they might be carrying a 27-0 lead into intermission, but Patter connected with wide receiver Erin Gunn right before the half to build a 34-0 advantage.

IMG Academy Blue 14, Akelynn’s 0 (game called due to bad weather): We can fault Mother Nature on this one. After one quarter of play, the Ascenders and Angels had to call the game off. Not before IMG Academy defensive back Rodrigo Ocampo notched a 63-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Other Week 4 Thursday night results

West Boca Raton 40, Spanish River 0

Homestead 44, South Dade 0

Marianna 24, Rutherford 7

Jackson 44, Hialeah Miami Lakes 0

Westminster Academy 54, SLAM WPB 8
