What Causes Menopause?

The most common reason for menopause is the natural decline in a female's reproductive hormones. However, menopause can also result from the following situations:

Oophorectomy: This surgery, which removes a woman's ovaries, causes immediate menopause. Symptoms and signs of menopause in this situation can be severe, as the hormonal changes happen abruptly.

Chemotherapy: Cancer treatments like chemotherapy can induce menopause quickly, causing symptoms to appear shortly after or even during treatment.

Ovarian Insufficiency: Also called premature ovarian failure, this condition is essentially premature menopause. It happens when a woman's ovaries quit functioning before the age of 40 and can stem from genetic factors and disease. Only 1% of women suffer from premature menopause, but HRT can help protect the heart, brain, and bones.

Depression

If you're a woman going through menopause and find that you have become increasingly depressed, you're not alone. It's estimated that 15% of women experience depression to some degree while going through menopause. What many women don't know is that depression can start during perimenopause, or the years leading up to menopause.

Depression can be hard to diagnose, especially during perimenopause and menopause. However, if you notice the following signs, it might be time to speak with a physician:

  • Mood Swings
  • Inappropriate Guilt
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Too Much or Too Little Sleep
  • Lack of Interest in Life
  • Overwhelming Feelings

Remember, if you're experiencing depression, you're not weak or broken - you're going through a very regular emotional experience. The good news is that with proper treatment from your doctor, depression isn't a death sentence. And with HRT and anti-aging treatment for women, depression could be the catalyst you need to enjoy a new lease on life.

Hot Flashes

Hot flashes - they're one of the most well-known symptoms of menopause. Hot flashes are intense, sudden feelings of heat across a woman's upper body. Some last second, while others last minutes, making them incredibly inconvenient and uncomfortable for most women.

Symptoms of hot flashes include:

  • Sudden, Overwhelming Feeling of Heat
  • Anxiety
  • High Heart Rate
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

Typically, hot flashes are caused by a lack of estrogen. Low estrogen levels negatively affect a woman's hypothalamus, the part of the brain that controls body temperature and appetite. Low estrogen levels cause the hypothalamus to incorrectly assume the body is too hot, dilating blood vessels to increase blood flow. Luckily, most women don't have to settle for the uncomfortable feelings that hot flashes cause. HRT treatments for women often stabilize hormones, lessening the effects of hot flashes and menopause in general.

Mood Swings

Mood swings are common occurrences for most people - quick shifts from happy to angry and back again, triggered by a specific event. And while many people experience mood swings, they are particularly common for women going through menopause. That's because, during menopause, the female's hormones are often imbalanced. Hormone imbalances and mood swings go hand-in-hand, resulting in frequent mood changes and even symptoms like insomnia.

The rate of production of estrogen, a hormone that fluctuates during menopause, largely determines the rate of production the hormone serotonin, which regulates mood, causing mood swings.

Luckily, HRT and anti-aging treatments in Jupiter, FL for women work wonders for mood swings by regulating hormone levels like estrogen. With normal hormone levels, women around the world are now learning that they don't have to settle for mood swings during menopause.

Weight Gain

Staying fit and healthy is hard for anyone living in modern America. However, for women with hormone imbalances during perimenopause or menopause, weight gain is even more serious. Luckily, HRT treatments for women coupled with a physician-led diet can help keep weight in check. But which hormones need to be regulated?

  • Estrogen: During menopause, estrogen levels are depleted. As such, the body must search for other sources of estrogen. Because estrogen is stored in fat, your body believes it should increase fat production during menopause. Estrogen also plays a big part in insulin resistance, which can make it even harder to lose weight and keep it off.
  • Progesterone: Progesterone levels are also depleted during menopause. Progesterone depletion causes bloating and water retention, while loss of testosterone limits the body's ability to burn calories.
  • Ongoing Stress: Stress makes our bodies think that food is hard to come by, putting our bodies in "survival mode". When this happens, cortisol production is altered. When cortisol timing changes, the energy in the bloodstream is diverted toward making fat. With chronic stress, this process repeatedly happens, causing extensive weight gain during menopause.

Low Libido

Lowered sexual desire - three words most men and women hate to hear. Unfortunately, for many women in perimenopausal and menopausal states, it's just a reality of life. Thankfully, today, HRT and anti-aging treatments Jupiter, FL can help women maintain a normal, healthy sex drive. But what causes low libido in women, especially as they get older?

The hormones responsible for low libido in women are progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone.

Progesterone production decreases during perimenopause, causing low sex drive in women. Lower progesterone production can also cause chronic fatigue, weight gain, and other symptoms. On the other hand, lower estrogen levels during menopause lead to vaginal dryness and even vaginal atrophy or loss of muscle tension.

Lastly, testosterone plays a role in lowered libido. And while testosterone is often grouped as a male hormone, it contributes to important health and regulatory functionality in women. A woman's testosterone serves to heighten sexual responses and enhances orgasms. When the ovaries are unable to produce sufficient levels of testosterone, it often results in a lowered sex drive.

 Hormone Replacement Jupiter, FL

Vaginal Dryness

Often uncomfortable and even painful, vaginal dryness is a serious problem for sexually active women. However, like hair loss in males, vaginal dryness is very common - almost 50% of women suffer from it during menopause.

Getting older is just a part of life, but that doesn't mean you have to settle for the side effects. HRT and anti-aging treatments for women correct vaginal dryness by re-balancing estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. When supplemented with diet and healthy living, your vagina's secretions are normalized, causing discomfort to recede.

Fibroids

Uterine fibroids - they're perhaps the least-known symptom of menopause and hormone imbalances in women. That's because these growths on the uterus are often symptom-free. Unfortunately, these growths can be cancerous, presenting a danger for women as they age.

Many women will have fibroids at some point. Because they're symptomless, they're usually found during routine doctor exams. Some women only get one or two, while others may have large clusters of fibroids. Because fibroids are usually caused by hormone imbalances, hysterectomies have been used as a solution, forcing women into early menopause.

Advances in HRT and anti-aging medicine for women give females a safer, non-surgical option without having to experience menopause early. At Global Life Rejuvenation, our expert physicians will implement a customized HRT program to stabilize your hormones and reduce the risk of cancerous fibroid growth.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis symptoms are much like the effects of PMS, and include pelvic pain, fatigue, cramping, and bloating. While doctors aren't entirely sure what causes this painful, uncomfortable condition, most agree that hormones - particularly xenoestrogens - play a factor.

Endometriosis symptoms are much like the effects of PMS and include pelvic pain, fatigue, cramping, and bloating. While doctors aren't entirely sure what causes this painful, uncomfortable condition, most agree that hormones - particularly xenoestrogens - play a factor.

Xenoestrogen is a hormone that is very similar to estrogen. Too much xenoestrogen is thought to stimulate endometrial tissue growth. HRT for women helps balance these hormones and, when used with a custom nutrition program, can provide relief for women across the U.S.

 Sermorelin Jupiter, FL

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic hormone peptide, like GHRH, which triggers the release of growth hormones. When used under the care of a qualified physician, Sermorelin can help you lose weight, increase your energy levels, and help you feel much younger.

 HRT Jupiter, FL

Benefits of Sermorelin

Human growth hormone (HGH) therapy has been used for years to treat hormone deficiencies. Unlike HGH, which directly replaces declining human growth hormone levels, Sermorelin addresses the underlying cause of decreased HGH, stimulating the pituitary gland naturally. This approach keeps the mechanisms of growth hormone production active.

  • Benefits of Sermorelin include:
  • Better Immune Function
  • Improved Physical Performance
  • More Growth Hormone Production
  • Less Body Fat
  • Build More Lean Muscle
  • Better Sleep
 Hormone Replacement Jupiter, FL

What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin helps to release growth hormones in a person's body by mimicking a peptide called ghrelin. Ghrelin is one of three hormones which work together to regulate the growth hormone levels released by the pituitary gland. Because Ipamorelin stimulates the body to produce growth hormone, your body won't stop its natural growth hormone production, which occurs with synthetic HGH.

Ipamorelin causes growth hormone secretion that resembles natural release patterns rather than being constantly elevated from HGH. Because ipamorelin stimulates the natural production of growth hormone, our patients can use this treatment long-term with fewer health risks.

One of the biggest benefits of Ipamorelin is that it provides significant short and long-term benefits in age management therapies. Ipamorelin can boost a patient's overall health, wellbeing, and outlook on life.

When there is an increased concentration of growth hormone by the pituitary gland, there are positive benefits to the body. Some benefits include:

  • Powerful Anti-Aging Properties
  • More Muscle Mass
  • Less Unsightly Body Fat
  • Deep, Restful Sleep
  • Increased Athletic Performance
  • More Energy
  • Less Recovery Time for Training Sessions and Injuries
  • Enhanced Overall Wellness and Health

JUPITER INLET COLONY, Fla. – For over two weeks, the ground under an oceanfront pool in South Florida was swept away by rough surf, causing beach erosion, aerial video shows.

Drone video captured by photographer Stephen Ippolito shows the extensive beach erosion along the coastline of Jupiter Inlet Colony in Palm Beach County, Florida. The video shows large chunks of dunes, once backyards, washed away by the surf. At the end of the video, photos show before and after what these homes looked like only a few weeks ago.

SARGASSUM SEAWEED 2024 FORECAST: WHEN COULD IT WASH UP ON US BEACHES?

Ippolito said the erosion happened between Jan. 29 and Feb. 10.

Palm Beach County includes a 47-mile coastline, with more than 33 miles facing critical erosion, according to the Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management. The county said development along the coast has compounded the situation, which faces constant wind, waves, tides and hurricanes.

This fall and winter, rough surf associated with several storm systems moving across the Florida peninsula has swept away even more dunes.

In a Feb. 2 letter, Palm Beach Vice Mayor Maria Marino addressed the increasing erosion.

GROWING THREAT FROM EROSION, STORMS TOO MUCH FOR NORTH CAROLINA OCEANFRONT PROPERTIES TO HANDLE

"Recently, you may have observed shoreline erosion. Our beaches sustained moderate additional damage to a number of previously identified ‘hot spot’ areas of erosion through the end of 2023 as a result of repeated strong frontal storm systems and their associated onshore winds," Marino wrote.

Palm Beach County uses multiple techniques to combat erosion, including dune restoration, support structures, and sand transfer and renourishment.

Across Florida's Treasure Coast, officials, including those in St. Lucie County, are concerned because sea turtle nesting season begins in March, and the turtles rely on dunes for their nests.

Drive a little farther south to avoid crowded shores.

When you think of spring break in Florida, you probably picture crowded sands teeming with vacationers. That’s the modus operandi of many destinations once spring break arrives, but there are certain pockets of shoreline in the Sunshine State where you can find less-crowded beaches and lots of fun. One of these places is Jupiter, Florida, a laid-back destination with a classic old-beach-town atmosphere. There is as much fun to be had here as there is in spring-break standbys like Daytona Beach and Panama City, so let us introduce you to Jupiter.

Stay In Jupiter

Spring breakers flock to hubs on the coast when the weather warms up, so if you want to avoid the crowds, you’ll have to drive a little farther south. Jupiter is located on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, sandwiched between Daytona Beach and The Palm Beaches, and it’s a less-frequented spot during spring’s busy season. You’re in for a relaxed trip here, where accommodations include the newly renovated Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa, which comes with sea views and easy access to the sands; the Wyndham Grand Jupiter at Harbourside Place, which is situated on the picturesque bank of Jupiter’s Intracoastal Waterway; and The Pointe Hotel, a breezy boutique hotel with a private beach.

Relax On Jupiter's Beaches

You can find public-access white sand beaches in many locations along the shore, including via area parks like Jupiter Beach Park, Carlin Park, and DuBois Park. Nearby, Juno Beach Pier at Juno Beach Park is a popular spot for soaking up the sun as well as casting a line. However, if you’re bringing canine companions along on the trip, Jupiter Off-Leash Dog Beach is the place for you. No matter where you stay in Jupiter, you're always only a short drive away from the water.

Take In Jupiter's Natural Wonders

There’s outdoor adventure to be had beyond the sands too. You can usually find an easily bookable boat tour; popular ones take to the water along the Loxahatchee River to see local wildlife in their coastal habitats. Just across Jupiter Sound is The Nature Conservancy Blowing Rocks Preserve, where you can embark on meanders along the boardwalks and hiking trails to glimpse rare and endangered plant, animal, and bird species or swim and snorkel along the beach. Nearby Jupiter Ridge Natural Area and Cypress Creek Natural Area are also popular places to explore the outdoors.

Enjoy Local Attractions

As for entertainment, one of Jupiter’s most recognizable sights is the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum, a historic lighthouse that you can visit, tour, and climb (it’s a strenuous journey). The connected museum has rotating exhibits exploring the town’s maritime history. At the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, learn how these sea creatures are rehabilitated and released back into the wild. Visit the patients in the outdoor sea hospital, and participate in one of the center’s nature programs or daily fish talks. If you’d like to take in a show, you can catch the museums in town or browse the events happening at the Seabreeze Amphitheater or the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

Explore Outdoors

If you’d like to spend a day on the links, there are several golf clubs and courses in the area (it’s a favorite town pastime). Or head to the water where a variety of adventures await. There’s a way for everyone to enjoy Jupiter’s waters, from charter fishing tours to paddleboarding to swimming in the surf. With Get Up and Go Kayaking, you can schedule a clear-bottom kayak tour through Jupiter’s waterways where you’ll likely get close to some of the area’s distinct wildlife, such as manatees, conch, and dolphins. Jupiter Dive Center offers snorkeling tours near the Jupiter Lighthouse inlet to see starfish, crabs, and maybe a manatee passing through. For more adventurous visitors, a shark diving expedition will most certainly be a unique thrill, as well as super educational.

Shop The Day Away

From consignment stores to boutiques, surf shops to galleries, Jupiter has something for everyone looking for a memento of their trip. Though it’s a newer destination, Downtown Abacoa boasts “old Main Street charm,” making it the perfect destination for shopping, dining, and a fun night out. You’ll find plenty of eateries and entertainment, such as a mini golf course and escape room, or schedule some downtime at the salon or spa.

Dine On Fresh Seafood

For fresh seafood (and what is spring break without some fresh seafood?), check out Little Moir's Food Shack, 1000 North, The Parisian Restaurant and Wine Bar, Casa Cana, and The Bistro. Get fresh sushi rolls, flatbreads, tacos, and burgers at the casual U-Tiki Beach near the Jupiter Inlet Marina. Guanabanas Restaurant features live music, a tiki bar, fresh Atlantic seafood, and waterfront dining.

When it comes to spring break, you might have to drive a little farther south to avoid crowded shores, but once you reach Jupiter, Florida, the extra miles will have been worth it. Beat the crowds and try a trip to an old-school beach town with a relaxed vibe...it just might have you planning a return trip for future spring breaks.

JUPITER, Fla. — A plan to create 520 apartments in Jupiter was rejected Tuesday night by the Town Council, but a recently passed Florida law could revive the plan.

Senate Bill 102 also known as the "Live Local Act" adds $711 million worth of taxpayer funds into different programs to help people build and buy homes.

However, the bill also allows developers to build apartments if a certain percentage of the units have rents tied to the median income in a given area.

Corey Crowley, who is a developer, said the law allows a developer to change zoning requirements through an administrative process rather than a vote from elected officials.

However, he said this might take time because an entity could slow down the process by not having policies within their town codes or interpreting the law differently than a developer.

"The law, when you read the details, is very powerful," Crowley said, "but the implementation won't be smooth."

According to documents from the town of Jupiter, the developer for the project, called Santé Circle, said it believes the project is allowed to be built because of SB 102. However, the town attorney disagreed because a development agreement occurred under a different law.

Crowley said issues interpreting state laws at the local level happen with other topics, but developers have enough money to take the issue to court.

He said the bill could allow a developer to turn a shopping center or mall into an apartment building. Crowley said this could create issues because some places might not have the infrastructure needed for these developments.

"If I build a 24-story complex, I can legitimately create a downtown environment, and that means the county might have to make a new sewer system. They might have to do a whole series of things," he explained. "The worst part is that they might not get any taxpayer money for that if they build an entirely affordable project."

WPTV contacted the five lawmakers who sponsored the bipartisan legislation to see why this rule was placed inside the bill late Thursday night, but they didn't return our request for comment.

Crowley said the intent of the legislation is to build a greater housing supply.

"Tallahassee is saying, 'We don't have time to wait anymore,'" he said. "Property values have doubled. They are going to double again. You know, you guys need to start building in scale."

Josh Smith, who employs about 150 people in the medical field, said workforce housing is needed in Jupiter. He said it's hard to keep employees because they have to travel from further distances.

“The employees have to live somewhere," Smith said. "They can’t live in Martin County. They can’t live in Port St. Lucie, and you’re putting employers in a difficult decision.

The council turned down the project over concerns from people about traffic, controlling the population in local schools and the possibility of attracting a corporate headquarters in the future.

The developers for the Santé Circle project said they didn't have future plans for the building on Wednesday.

JUPITER, Fla. —

The Palm Beach County Fire Rescue captain has rejected Jupiter's proposal to take over Fire Station 18 when the county's contract ends in 2026 — leaving the town back at the drawing board to come up with locations.

It's been an ongoing question to the town council about starting its own fire department, "Where are you going to put the fire stations?"

The town hasn’t come up with the locations even as it has purchased and publicly debuted its first fire truck.

“Where is this truck being stored? You still haven’t given us any locations for any stations, so who is holding on to this for the town, and what are you paying in storage fees for this parade and event prop?” said Lisa Vreeland at Tuesday's council meeting.

At first, the town’s consultant, Joe Pozzo, suggested two green space areas, but residents got riled up, and the town backed off, posting on its website:

“Land acquired through the Open Space Bond Program will not be used for a JFRD fire station. The Town has not yet finalized specific locations for fire stations.”

Jupiter council member questions rush to buy 'basic model' fire truck

Right now, Palm Beach County owns two of its Jupiter fire stations and uses one in Abacoa that reverts to the town when the contract ends.

In October, town manager Frank Kitzerow wrote to Palm Beach County Fire Chief Patrick Kennedy suggesting the county let the town take over station 18, proposing:

“Palm Beach County enters into a long-term lease with the Town to assume the operation of Station 18.”

Kitzerow added he estimates the county could save a million dollars per year by not having to operate that station once its contract with the town expires.

Jupiter voting to approve $7.5 million purchase of fire engines, ambulances for new fire department

But Kennedy decisively shut down that idea, writing back:

“I want to be clear that Palm Beach County Fire Rescue has other communities that benefit from PBCFR’s response from station 18, and it is our intention to continue serving them with the same services they expect and deserve.

It would be premature and frankly reckless at this point to consider removing station 18 from our resource list.”

EXCLUSIVE: Jupiter citizens group files lawsuit to force town to put fire department question on ballot

Kennedy also mentioned there appeared to be some effort to exclude the county fire department from taking part in "our long tradition of participating in the Town's annual events (Snow Place Like Home and Jupiter Jubilee)."

After that letter was circulated publicly, the town said it was a miscommunication over a worry about space concerns and not an effort to exclude the county fire department from the events.

A new book features 100 things to do in and around Jupiter. This morning, T.A. Walker is Shining on the places featured in the book.

JUPITER, Fla. — Hidden gems in the Jupiter area are the topic of a new book called "100 Things to do in Jupiter Before you Die."

The book is written by a reporter/editor Amy Woods who is an alumnus of the Palm Beach Post, Jupiter Magazine, Florida Weekly.

It features things you may have driven right passed without noticing or things that you may take for granted.

"I've been writing about (North Palm Beach County) for several years. [I wanted] to create something that visitors would be interested in, a reason for them to come to town. And also for locals to maybe discover what they've been missing," said Woods.

Besides Wood's previous work on topics in North Palm Beach county she found new things that were intriguing to her.

"Well one of the most interesting things in the book, I think, is about Al Capone and his ties to this area. He had a flophouse of sorts or a hideout for his gangsters in Jupiter farms," said Woods.

The book's chapters feature things like the Mancave, a testosterone driven consignment shop, hidden historical treasures like DuBois Pioneer Home, unique restaurants and coffee shops, and Palm Beach County's oldest bar. Plus, it features the up and coming diversity in the area like the Lola Chiq Boutique.

"It's owned by two fashion forward sisters from Puerto Rico, and their merchandise is for flirty, Florida females," Woods said.

The Downtown Palm Beach Gardens shop owners were elated to be included on the list.

"Oh my god. It was amazing. We're like, 'Wow, you made it...' It's definitely an honor just to know that we are now in the fabric of the community. You know, we've been here for 12 years. So it's very nice to be recognized, said Lola Chiq owner Maria Mercado.

Maria's sister and co-owner of the boutique agrees.

"[It's special] that after 12 years hard work and everything has paid off," said Marrietta.

Woods said if you'd like a copy she can deliver it to you or you can by on Amazon, Reedpress, or at Barnes & Noble in Palm Beach Gardens.
