What Causes Menopause?

The most common reason for menopause is the natural decline in a female's reproductive hormones. However, menopause can also result from the following situations:

Oophorectomy: This surgery, which removes a woman's ovaries, causes immediate menopause. Symptoms and signs of menopause in this situation can be severe, as the hormonal changes happen abruptly.

Chemotherapy: Cancer treatments like chemotherapy can induce menopause quickly, causing symptoms to appear shortly after or even during treatment.

Ovarian Insufficiency: Also called premature ovarian failure, this condition is essentially premature menopause. It happens when a woman's ovaries quit functioning before the age of 40 and can stem from genetic factors and disease. Only 1% of women suffer from premature menopause, but HRT can help protect the heart, brain, and bones.

Depression

If you're a woman going through menopause and find that you have become increasingly depressed, you're not alone. It's estimated that 15% of women experience depression to some degree while going through menopause. What many women don't know is that depression can start during perimenopause, or the years leading up to menopause.

Depression can be hard to diagnose, especially during perimenopause and menopause. However, if you notice the following signs, it might be time to speak with a physician:

  • Mood Swings
  • Inappropriate Guilt
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Too Much or Too Little Sleep
  • Lack of Interest in Life
  • Overwhelming Feelings

Remember, if you're experiencing depression, you're not weak or broken - you're going through a very regular emotional experience. The good news is that with proper treatment from your doctor, depression isn't a death sentence. And with HRT and anti-aging treatment for women, depression could be the catalyst you need to enjoy a new lease on life.

Hot Flashes

Hot flashes - they're one of the most well-known symptoms of menopause. Hot flashes are intense, sudden feelings of heat across a woman's upper body. Some last second, while others last minutes, making them incredibly inconvenient and uncomfortable for most women.

Symptoms of hot flashes include:

  • Sudden, Overwhelming Feeling of Heat
  • Anxiety
  • High Heart Rate
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

Typically, hot flashes are caused by a lack of estrogen. Low estrogen levels negatively affect a woman's hypothalamus, the part of the brain that controls body temperature and appetite. Low estrogen levels cause the hypothalamus to incorrectly assume the body is too hot, dilating blood vessels to increase blood flow. Luckily, most women don't have to settle for the uncomfortable feelings that hot flashes cause. HRT treatments for women often stabilize hormones, lessening the effects of hot flashes and menopause in general.

Mood Swings

Mood swings are common occurrences for most people - quick shifts from happy to angry and back again, triggered by a specific event. And while many people experience mood swings, they are particularly common for women going through menopause. That's because, during menopause, the female's hormones are often imbalanced. Hormone imbalances and mood swings go hand-in-hand, resulting in frequent mood changes and even symptoms like insomnia.

The rate of production of estrogen, a hormone that fluctuates during menopause, largely determines the rate of production the hormone serotonin, which regulates mood, causing mood swings.

Luckily, HRT and anti-aging treatments in Palmetto, FL for women work wonders for mood swings by regulating hormone levels like estrogen. With normal hormone levels, women around the world are now learning that they don't have to settle for mood swings during menopause.

Weight Gain

Staying fit and healthy is hard for anyone living in modern America. However, for women with hormone imbalances during perimenopause or menopause, weight gain is even more serious. Luckily, HRT treatments for women coupled with a physician-led diet can help keep weight in check. But which hormones need to be regulated?

  • Estrogen: During menopause, estrogen levels are depleted. As such, the body must search for other sources of estrogen. Because estrogen is stored in fat, your body believes it should increase fat production during menopause. Estrogen also plays a big part in insulin resistance, which can make it even harder to lose weight and keep it off.
  • Progesterone: Progesterone levels are also depleted during menopause. Progesterone depletion causes bloating and water retention, while loss of testosterone limits the body's ability to burn calories.
  • Ongoing Stress: Stress makes our bodies think that food is hard to come by, putting our bodies in "survival mode". When this happens, cortisol production is altered. When cortisol timing changes, the energy in the bloodstream is diverted toward making fat. With chronic stress, this process repeatedly happens, causing extensive weight gain during menopause.

Low Libido

Lowered sexual desire - three words most men and women hate to hear. Unfortunately, for many women in perimenopausal and menopausal states, it's just a reality of life. Thankfully, today, HRT and anti-aging treatments Palmetto, FL can help women maintain a normal, healthy sex drive. But what causes low libido in women, especially as they get older?

The hormones responsible for low libido in women are progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone.

Progesterone production decreases during perimenopause, causing low sex drive in women. Lower progesterone production can also cause chronic fatigue, weight gain, and other symptoms. On the other hand, lower estrogen levels during menopause lead to vaginal dryness and even vaginal atrophy or loss of muscle tension.

Lastly, testosterone plays a role in lowered libido. And while testosterone is often grouped as a male hormone, it contributes to important health and regulatory functionality in women. A woman's testosterone serves to heighten sexual responses and enhances orgasms. When the ovaries are unable to produce sufficient levels of testosterone, it often results in a lowered sex drive.

 Hormone Replacement Palmetto, FL

Vaginal Dryness

Often uncomfortable and even painful, vaginal dryness is a serious problem for sexually active women. However, like hair loss in males, vaginal dryness is very common - almost 50% of women suffer from it during menopause.

Getting older is just a part of life, but that doesn't mean you have to settle for the side effects. HRT and anti-aging treatments for women correct vaginal dryness by re-balancing estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. When supplemented with diet and healthy living, your vagina's secretions are normalized, causing discomfort to recede.

Hormone Replacement Therapy Palmetto, FL

Fibroids

Uterine fibroids - they're perhaps the least-known symptom of menopause and hormone imbalances in women. That's because these growths on the uterus are often symptom-free. Unfortunately, these growths can be cancerous, presenting a danger for women as they age.

Many women will have fibroids at some point. Because they're symptomless, they're usually found during routine doctor exams. Some women only get one or two, while others may have large clusters of fibroids. Because fibroids are usually caused by hormone imbalances, hysterectomies have been used as a solution, forcing women into early menopause.

Advances in HRT and anti-aging medicine for women give females a safer, non-surgical option without having to experience menopause early. At Global Life Rejuvenation, our expert physicians will implement a customized HRT program to stabilize your hormones and reduce the risk of cancerous fibroid growth.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis symptoms are much like the effects of PMS, and include pelvic pain, fatigue, cramping, and bloating. While doctors aren't entirely sure what causes this painful, uncomfortable condition, most agree that hormones - particularly xenoestrogens - play a factor.

Endometriosis symptoms are much like the effects of PMS and include pelvic pain, fatigue, cramping, and bloating. While doctors aren't entirely sure what causes this painful, uncomfortable condition, most agree that hormones - particularly xenoestrogens - play a factor.

Xenoestrogen is a hormone that is very similar to estrogen. Too much xenoestrogen is thought to stimulate endometrial tissue growth. HRT for women helps balance these hormones and, when used with a custom nutrition program, can provide relief for women across the U.S.

 Sermorelin Palmetto, FL

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic hormone peptide, like GHRH, which triggers the release of growth hormones. When used under the care of a qualified physician, Sermorelin can help you lose weight, increase your energy levels, and help you feel much younger.

 HRT Palmetto, FL

Benefits of Sermorelin

Human growth hormone (HGH) therapy has been used for years to treat hormone deficiencies. Unlike HGH, which directly replaces declining human growth hormone levels, Sermorelin addresses the underlying cause of decreased HGH, stimulating the pituitary gland naturally. This approach keeps the mechanisms of growth hormone production active.

  • Benefits of Sermorelin include:
  • Better Immune Function
  • Improved Physical Performance
  • More Growth Hormone Production
  • Less Body Fat
  • Build More Lean Muscle
  • Better Sleep
 Hormone Replacement Palmetto, FL

What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin helps to release growth hormones in a person's body by mimicking a peptide called ghrelin. Ghrelin is one of three hormones which work together to regulate the growth hormone levels released by the pituitary gland. Because Ipamorelin stimulates the body to produce growth hormone, your body won't stop its natural growth hormone production, which occurs with synthetic HGH.

Ipamorelin causes growth hormone secretion that resembles natural release patterns rather than being constantly elevated from HGH. Because ipamorelin stimulates the natural production of growth hormone, our patients can use this treatment long-term with fewer health risks.

Hormone Replacement Therapy Palmetto, FL

Benefits of Ipamorelin

One of the biggest benefits of Ipamorelin is that it provides significant short and long-term benefits in age management therapies. Ipamorelin can boost a patient's overall health, wellbeing, and outlook on life.

When growth hormone is produced by the pituitary gland using Ipamorelin, clients report amazing benefits. Some of those benefits include:

  • Powerful Anti-Aging Properties
  • More Muscle Mass
  • Less Unsightly Body Fat
  • Deep, Restful Sleep
  • Increased Athletic Performance
  • More Energy
  • Less Recovery Time for Training Sessions and Injuries
  • Enhanced Overall Wellness and Health
  • No Significant Increase in Cortisol

Good news Florida parents! This year’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday has been expanded to 14 days. Starting Monday, July 25, through Sunday, Aug. 7, parents get a break from Florida’s 6 percent sales tax. This represents a great savings for our families as the summer break ends and the 2022-23 school year begins on Aug. 17.

As a member and chair of the Miami-Dade School Board, I have endorsed this event for many years. Parents are notified so that they have an opportunity to save money, as they purchase items and prepare their children for a successful school year.

The expenses associated with the education of our children can add up to large amounts of dollars, especially for those families that have more than one child.

The state’s sales tax holiday applies to four categories: clothing, school supplies, computer technology, and — for the first time this year — learning aids and puzzles, all in certain dollar amounts.

No Florida sales tax or local option tax will be collected during this time on the sale of the following items: • Clothing, footwear, and certain accessories with a sales price of $100 or less per item; • Certain school supplies with a sales price of $50 or less per item; • Personal computers and certain computer-related accessories with a sales price of $1,500 or less, when purchased for noncommercial home or personal use, and • Learning aids and jigsaw puzzles with a sales price of $30 or less. Some of the allowed school supplies include the following: binders, calculators, colored pencils, crayons, pens, construction paper, lunch boxes, notebook filler paper, glue, paste, poster paper, rulers and scissors.

Examples of taxable school supplies include the following: correction tape, fluid or pens; masking tape; printer and computer paper; staplers and staples.

Our community is composed of hardworking families for whom this sales tax holiday will bring a welcomed financial relief. Therefore, it is in the best interests of the students and parents we serve that we use the district’s communication resources to make certain that Miami-Dade County citizens are aware of the upcoming tax-free holiday, so that as many people as possible may benefit.

I encourage everyone to visit the Florida Revenue website. Visit https://floridarevenue.com/taxes/tips/Documents/TIP_22A01-08.pdf for a complete list of allowable items. I wish all students, as well as parents, teachers, administrators and support staff a very successful 2022-23 school year.

The Palmetto Tigers, are one of many High School football teams conditioning under the hot Florida Sun, getting ready for the upcoming season. For Sophomore Quarterback Zander Smith, it will be his second year as the Tigers starting quarterback.

Zander was in a unique position at Palmetto, last year he became the first Freshman quarterback ever to start for the Tigers under Head Coach Dave Marino .

Head Coach Dave Marino says they have gradually given him more and more work. "The Pressure is going to be on him, ready or not, that’s what we were trying to prepare him for, teams are gonna know we’re gonna throw more then were going to run, that’s not going to be a secret".

Growing up Zander was always the biggest kid in his age group, so he started out in his early years on the offensive line, moving to quarterback after hitting a growth spurt in middle school.

Zander recalls what pee wee football was like. "Everybody says hindsight’s 20-20, so of course oh, if we knew he was going to grow six inches in one summer, then sure we would have thrown him in a quarterback, but we just didn’t know so, I was a pretty chubby kid so they didn’t need me back there".

Zander always had plenty of support growing up learning the game from his dad, who coached him in the sport since he was three years old.

In November of 2020, the man who had been his coach and mentor since the age of three would be hospitalized with COVID.

The hospitalization came as shock to all, and it was something Zander thought his dad would beat.

"I always thought he would walk out of the hospital, a week, two weeks, three weeks, a month later, whatever, and come back to watch my games and coaching me and everything".

Dwight Smith would leave the hospital, once, surprising his son to watch his first playoff victory as an eighth grade quarterback at Bradenton Christian High School. His father would hug him congratulations after the game. It was the last time Zander would see his father.

One month later, Dwight Smith, was gone at the age of 49.

Gone from the stands but not the football field where every game Zander carries the spirit of his father with him, wearing dog tags around his neck with the date his father passed away on December 16th 2020.

He would have bracelets with the date inscribed, made up for his mom and his sisters, a constant reminder of what they lost.

Zander Smith’s High School football journey has just begun where it leads him, he doesn’t know, but thanks to the support of family, football and the memory of his father, he has everything he needs to succeed.

Local honey producers work to lessen the sting of inflation

PALMETTO, Fla. — In a field in Palmetto, an intense buzzing is easily heard — and nearby, surrounded by white boxes filled with bees, Matt and Allison Davis stand in beekeeper outfits.

“That is the queen," said Allison, pointing to one bee surrounded by thousands of others. “She is right here, she has got a little speck of paint on her.”

The pair are cleaning up the hives, and collecting some of the crates filled with honey.

“It’s honey, that is all honey," said Matt.

From bee removal to beekeeping to harvesting honey, their work is non-stop.

"We can get about 40 pounds of honey extracted from a box this size," said Matt.

They started their bee business, Noble Nectar, back in 2016. They quit jobs they liked so they could do a job they love.

The truth is, they say, it's more than just a business — they find peace and inspiration from being with the bees.

“It’s like a well-oiled machine basically, how they work in the hive," said Allison. "Everybody has a job, everybody does their part to make sure that they survive. It would be amazing if people could work like bees do.”

Inflation continues to be a burden, and small business owners continue to shoulder the weight. Local honey makers and bee removal specialities, Matt & Allison Davis, just recently had to raise prices. @BN9 pic.twitter.com/3hXUne8jFf

— Erin Murray Bay News 9 (@emurray1) July 26, 2022

She smiles to herself under the beekeepers mask and says things are good for this business, other than the high inflation they're dealing with right now.

“We were really, really hoping that they were going to come back down, and we were putting it off trying not to raise the prices, because we understand all of this has been hard on everyone," said Matt. "And we just couldn’t do it any more, we had to bump our prices a little bit."

Even in the honey game, they said the trickle down from inflation is real and sticky.

“We actually, every year selling more and more honey," Allison said with a shrug. "We have had to raise our prices just a tad just to kind of keep up with things, we held off as long as we could but, you know."

They couldn't avoid increasing their prices, and bottles were just one of many costs they had seen double.

“Some of the regular places we were ordering our bottles from, the prices went up immensely," said Allison.

Label and sticker prices are up as well and they say their delivery service is harder because gas is more expensive.

"It’s hurting us financially right now for sure with the gas prices," said Matt. "They are starting to trickle down a little bit, so that has been helpful, but it’s still a lot higher than it was."

Thankfully, they do have more customers than ever before, but with inflation, they say that success feels less rewarding.

“It doesn’t feel like it's more because everything costs more now," said Allison. "So we are still kind of in the same place and we should be ahead of the game at this point."

But like true worker bees, this pair said they are not giving up.

“We are all paying for it in some way or another," said Allison.

PALMETTO, Fla. - Gene Kennedy was 9 years old when the 1977 Lincoln Mark V was built, but the one he's working on now isn't just any old car.

"What makes it really rare is this is the last known purchased vehicle that Elvis ever made," Kennedy said.

He owns Bandit Movie Cars in Manatee County. His company is most famous for the "Smokey and the Bandit" Trans Am once owned by Burt Reynolds.

But their new build might draw a lot of attention. They're rebuilding one of The King's signature white-on-white luxury cars, just in time for the new biopic about Elvis Presley to hit theaters.

The movie is called "Elvis" and stars Austin Butler and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker, Presley's long-time manager.

The actors play the roles, but the car was actually there in Las Vegas – with The King driving – during the final year of his life.

Kennedy has a photo with Elvis, two of his staff members, and his girlfriend at the time, Ginger Alden. She wanted the car to be white-on-white.

"They wanted a certain car and it was very tough to get, especially in that color combination, so they made the trip to L.A. to buy the car, and then they drove it back to Las Vegas," says Kennedy.

He says a $100,000 frame-off restoration of the car is underway.

"The car has been extensively gone over, every nut, every bolt, everything has been replaced on the vehicle. In fact, we’re getting ready to put the seats in today," Kennedy said.

They found the exact leather to recover the seats that were cracked. Everything else is the same as when Elvis last drove it, right down to the AM-FM-8 Track tape player in the dash.

"A couple of things we didn't want to do is violate anything in the car that Elvis may have touched, so it has the original steering wheel, original headliner, and original parts inside that he touched," says Kennedy.

The new movie introduces Elvis to a new generation. No doubt fans will like to see the Lincoln, fit for The King.

The car belongs to a collector. Kennedy estimates its value at $250,000.
