What Causes Menopause?

The most common reason for menopause is the natural decline in a female's reproductive hormones. However, menopause can also result from the following situations:

Oophorectomy: This surgery, which removes a woman's ovaries, causes immediate menopause. Symptoms and signs of menopause in this situation can be severe, as the hormonal changes happen abruptly.

Chemotherapy: Cancer treatments like chemotherapy can induce menopause quickly, causing symptoms to appear shortly after or even during treatment.

Ovarian Insufficiency: Also called premature ovarian failure, this condition is essentially premature menopause. It happens when a woman's ovaries quit functioning before the age of 40 and can stem from genetic factors and disease. Only 1% of women suffer from premature menopause, but HRT can help protect the heart, brain, and bones.

Depression

If you're a woman going through menopause and find that you have become increasingly depressed, you're not alone. It's estimated that 15% of women experience depression to some degree while going through menopause. What many women don't know is that depression can start during perimenopause, or the years leading up to menopause.

Depression can be hard to diagnose, especially during perimenopause and menopause. However, if you notice the following signs, it might be time to speak with a physician:

  • Mood Swings
  • Inappropriate Guilt
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Too Much or Too Little Sleep
  • Lack of Interest in Life
  • Overwhelming Feelings

Remember, if you're experiencing depression, you're not weak or broken - you're going through a very regular emotional experience. The good news is that with proper treatment from your doctor, depression isn't a death sentence. And with HRT and anti-aging treatment for women, depression could be the catalyst you need to enjoy a new lease on life.

Hot Flashes

Hot flashes - they're one of the most well-known symptoms of menopause. Hot flashes are intense, sudden feelings of heat across a woman's upper body. Some last second, while others last minutes, making them incredibly inconvenient and uncomfortable for most women.

Symptoms of hot flashes include:

  • Sudden, Overwhelming Feeling of Heat
  • Anxiety
  • High Heart Rate
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

Typically, hot flashes are caused by a lack of estrogen. Low estrogen levels negatively affect a woman's hypothalamus, the part of the brain that controls body temperature and appetite. Low estrogen levels cause the hypothalamus to incorrectly assume the body is too hot, dilating blood vessels to increase blood flow. Luckily, most women don't have to settle for the uncomfortable feelings that hot flashes cause. HRT treatments for women often stabilize hormones, lessening the effects of hot flashes and menopause in general.

Mood Swings

Mood swings are common occurrences for most people - quick shifts from happy to angry and back again, triggered by a specific event. And while many people experience mood swings, they are particularly common for women going through menopause. That's because, during menopause, the female's hormones are often imbalanced. Hormone imbalances and mood swings go hand-in-hand, resulting in frequent mood changes and even symptoms like insomnia.

The rate of production of estrogen, a hormone that fluctuates during menopause, largely determines the rate of production the hormone serotonin, which regulates mood, causing mood swings.

Luckily, HRT and anti-aging treatments in Venice, FL for women work wonders for mood swings by regulating hormone levels like estrogen. With normal hormone levels, women around the world are now learning that they don't have to settle for mood swings during menopause.

Weight Gain

Staying fit and healthy is hard for anyone living in modern America. However, for women with hormone imbalances during perimenopause or menopause, weight gain is even more serious. Luckily, HRT treatments for women coupled with a physician-led diet can help keep weight in check. But which hormones need to be regulated?

  • Estrogen: During menopause, estrogen levels are depleted. As such, the body must search for other sources of estrogen. Because estrogen is stored in fat, your body believes it should increase fat production during menopause. Estrogen also plays a big part in insulin resistance, which can make it even harder to lose weight and keep it off.
  • Progesterone: Progesterone levels are also depleted during menopause. Progesterone depletion causes bloating and water retention, while loss of testosterone limits the body's ability to burn calories.
  • Ongoing Stress: Stress makes our bodies think that food is hard to come by, putting our bodies in "survival mode". When this happens, cortisol production is altered. When cortisol timing changes, the energy in the bloodstream is diverted toward making fat. With chronic stress, this process repeatedly happens, causing extensive weight gain during menopause.

Low Libido

Lowered sexual desire - three words most men and women hate to hear. Unfortunately, for many women in perimenopausal and menopausal states, it's just a reality of life. Thankfully, today, HRT and anti-aging treatments Venice, FL can help women maintain a normal, healthy sex drive. But what causes low libido in women, especially as they get older?

The hormones responsible for low libido in women are progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone.

Progesterone production decreases during perimenopause, causing low sex drive in women. Lower progesterone production can also cause chronic fatigue, weight gain, and other symptoms. On the other hand, lower estrogen levels during menopause lead to vaginal dryness and even vaginal atrophy or loss of muscle tension.

Lastly, testosterone plays a role in lowered libido. And while testosterone is often grouped as a male hormone, it contributes to important health and regulatory functionality in women. A woman's testosterone serves to heighten sexual responses and enhances orgasms. When the ovaries are unable to produce sufficient levels of testosterone, it often results in a lowered sex drive.

 Hormone Replacement Venice, FL

Vaginal Dryness

Often uncomfortable and even painful, vaginal dryness is a serious problem for sexually active women. However, like hair loss in males, vaginal dryness is very common - almost 50% of women suffer from it during menopause.

Getting older is just a part of life, but that doesn't mean you have to settle for the side effects. HRT and anti-aging treatments for women correct vaginal dryness by re-balancing estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. When supplemented with diet and healthy living, your vagina's secretions are normalized, causing discomfort to recede.

Fibroids

Uterine fibroids - they're perhaps the least-known symptom of menopause and hormone imbalances in women. That's because these growths on the uterus are often symptom-free. Unfortunately, these growths can be cancerous, presenting a danger for women as they age.

Many women will have fibroids at some point. Because they're symptomless, they're usually found during routine doctor exams. Some women only get one or two, while others may have large clusters of fibroids. Because fibroids are usually caused by hormone imbalances, hysterectomies have been used as a solution, forcing women into early menopause.

Advances in HRT and anti-aging medicine for women give females a safer, non-surgical option without having to experience menopause early. At Global Life Rejuvenation, our expert physicians will implement a customized HRT program to stabilize your hormones and reduce the risk of cancerous fibroid growth.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis symptoms are much like the effects of PMS, and include pelvic pain, fatigue, cramping, and bloating. While doctors aren't entirely sure what causes this painful, uncomfortable condition, most agree that hormones - particularly xenoestrogens - play a factor.

Endometriosis symptoms are much like the effects of PMS and include pelvic pain, fatigue, cramping, and bloating. While doctors aren't entirely sure what causes this painful, uncomfortable condition, most agree that hormones - particularly xenoestrogens - play a factor.

Xenoestrogen is a hormone that is very similar to estrogen. Too much xenoestrogen is thought to stimulate endometrial tissue growth. HRT for women helps balance these hormones and, when used with a custom nutrition program, can provide relief for women across the U.S.

 Sermorelin Venice, FL

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic hormone peptide, like GHRH, which triggers the release of growth hormones. When used under the care of a qualified physician, Sermorelin can help you lose weight, increase your energy levels, and help you feel much younger.

 HRT Venice, FL

Benefits of Sermorelin

Human growth hormone (HGH) therapy has been used for years to treat hormone deficiencies. Unlike HGH, which directly replaces declining human growth hormone levels, Sermorelin addresses the underlying cause of decreased HGH, stimulating the pituitary gland naturally. This approach keeps the mechanisms of growth hormone production active.

  • Benefits of Sermorelin include:
  • Better Immune Function
  • Improved Physical Performance
  • More Growth Hormone Production
  • Less Body Fat
  • Build More Lean Muscle
  • Better Sleep
 Hormone Replacement Venice, FL

What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin helps to release growth hormones in a person's body by mimicking a peptide called ghrelin. Ghrelin is one of three hormones which work together to regulate the growth hormone levels released by the pituitary gland. Because Ipamorelin stimulates the body to produce growth hormone, your body won't stop its natural growth hormone production, which occurs with synthetic HGH.

Ipamorelin causes growth hormone secretion that resembles natural release patterns rather than being constantly elevated from HGH. Because ipamorelin stimulates the natural production of growth hormone, our patients can use this treatment long-term with fewer health risks.

Hormone Replacement Therapy Venice, FL

Benefits of Ipamorelin

One of the biggest benefits of Ipamorelin is that it provides significant short and long-term benefits in age management therapies. Ipamorelin can boost a patient's overall health, wellbeing, and outlook on life.

When there is an increased concentration of growth hormone by the pituitary gland, there are positive benefits to the body. Some benefits include:

  • Powerful Anti-Aging Properties
  • More Muscle Mass
  • Less Unsightly Body Fat
  • Deep, Restful Sleep
  • Increased Athletic Performance
  • More Energy
  • Less Recovery Time for Training Sessions and Injuries
  • Enhanced Overall Wellness and Health
  • No Significant Increase in Cortisol

In this guide, we'll take you on a journey through the parts of Venice you won't want to miss, offering a curated list of places to visit, things to do, and where to eat.

Day 1

Venice Beach: Start your day with a leisurely stroll along Venice Beach. The soft, white sands and gentle waves make it the perfect spot for a morning walk. Venice is widely known as the Shark Tooth Capital of the World, so be sure to an eye out for one of these unique keepsakes.

Next, head to the Venice Fishing Pier, which extends 700 feet into the Gulf of Mexico. It's a great spot for fishing, bird-watching, or simply taking in the breathtaking views of the shoreline. Sharky's on the Pier is a great place to grab lunch and take in the oceanfront views.

Explore Downtown: Walk off lunch by exploring Historic Downtown Venice. There are a ton of boutique shops, art galleries, and specialty stores, and plenty of little local cafes where you can grab a coffee. Centennial Park is a green oasis in the heart of downtown. You can relax by the fountain, watch live music performances, or attend local events if scheduled.

Dinner: One of my favorite restaurants downtown is called Made in Italy. The salads, pizzas, and homemade pasta are amazing but I also really like the chicken piccata.

Another place I've heard a lot about but haven't yet tried myself is Cafe Venice Restaurant and Wine Bar. The menu here looks pretty good and they have live music 5 nights a week.

Day 2

Breakfast: Start your day with breakfast at Croissant & Co., a small French bakery known for its delicious pastries and coffee. There's not a whole lot of seating inside, so if it's crowded just take your order to go.

Tiki Bar Boat Tour: Venice Italy may have gondolas, but those don't hold a candle to the Tiki Bar boats in Venice Florida! Relax and enjoy a leisurely cruise off the western coast of Venice. Take plenty of photos of the beautiful scenery and enjoy that warm Florida sun!

They have two coolers on board available for passenger use and ice is provided as well. Personal coolers are welcome too if you prefer to bring your own.

Alternative Option: If being on the water is just not your thing, you can head to Myakka River State Park which is about 30 minutes away. Here you can enjoy hiking trails, bird-watching, or a boat ride through the park's wetlands.

Grab a quick bite for lunch near whichever morning activity you chose.

You've got a couple options this afternoon…

Explore: You can spend your afternoon at the Historic Spanish Point, an outdoor museum that offers a glimpse into Florida's pioneer history. Explore the lush gardens, historic buildings, and archaeological sites.

Biking: Rent a bicycle and explore the Legacy Trail, a 10-mile scenic trail that runs through Venice. It's a great way to experience the area's natural beauty.

Water Sports: Try your hand at kayaking, paddleboarding, or jet skiing in the Gulf of Mexico or the serene waters of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Venice Area Audubon Rookery: Birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts will appreciate a visit to the Venice Area Audubon Rookery, where you can observe various bird species nesting and breeding.

For your final dinner in Venice, check out Crow's Nest Restaurant & Marina. Here you can enjoy fresh seafood and breathtaking views of the marina at sunset.

VENICE, Fla. - Hurricane Idalia is long gone, but the storm still impacted Labor Day plans at the beach. Crews spent Monday evening picking up debris in Treasure Island, and in Venice, the South Jetty, which is normally busy on the holiday, is still shut down because of storm surge damage.

A closed sign to Humphris Park and the South Jetty in Venice is not what many expected on Labor Day.

"There is so much sand and big boulders moved and erosion from the water coming over the jetties, it’s a real mess out here," said Chris Johnson, the owner of Jetty Jacks.

READ: Floridians impacted by Hurricane Idalia can qualify for FEMA assistance

The erosion can be seen in the parking lot, along the jetty and around the sides where cars once parked. But, Johnson was relieved to see his business still standing once Hurricane Idalia passed.

"The damage was all surface and while it is a mess and the city has their work cut out for them and even though it’s only been a few days since the storm with a holiday in there, the city is off to a pretty good start, and they are communicating well with me," he said.

Storm surge and heavy wave action brought about four feet of water to the South Jetty in Venice.

"Water actually washed all the way over this parking area behind me into the intercoastal waterway, carrying quite a bit of debris, sand and actually some of the boulders from the south jetty into the waterway," said James Clinch, the assistant city manager for the City of Venice.

Public Works worked to clear boulders that washed into the parking lot and other debris.

"We are working with the Army Corps of Engineers, WCIND and our local contractors to come up with a repair plan to get this park reopen just as soon as possible," said Clinch.

Johnson has faith he will be back open soon.

"We have our fingers crossed that we will be closed only a couple of weeks, but we’ve got to be realistic that it could be longer," he said.

He hopes it’ll only take two to three weeks, but his main concern remains for his staff and how the closure will continue to impact them.

"We have half a dozen people that this is their livelihood and then all of a sudden we are all out of work, and people depend on their income for the payment of their bills. So that worries on my mind right now more than anything," said Johnson.

In Southwest Florida, voters tossed out incumbents with vigor.

In Venice, voters elected Joan Farrell and booted incumbent Mitzie Fiedler from the City Council. Meanwhile, residents elected Ron Smith over Dusty Feller to an open seat.

In Charlotte County’s only municipality, voters kicked Punta Gorda City Councilman Mark Kuharski out in favor of newcomer Deborah Lux.

Fiedler first won her seat on the Council in 2017. But now she has lost her bid for a third term. With unofficial final results in, Joan Farrell had 52.3% of the vote to Fiedler’s 47.7% Farrell ultimately had a 413-vote lead.

Farrell had questioned unfettered growth in the city under Fiedler’s watch.

“Rampant over development causing major traffic and environmental issues, lack of affordable housing for those in the service industry on whom we all rely, and our unending recurring red tide problem can be fixed, but only with the right City Council in place,” reads a campaign statement on her website.

“If we don’t vote for change now, these problems will continue to grow. That’s why I agree with the City Council working together to solve our substantial local problems and preserve our paradise.”

A former teacher, Fiedler made infrastructure improvements a key part of her campaign. She also addressed a number of issues about growth in the Sarasota County municipality.

“I realize that we must lead by example,” Fiedler said in a campaign statement. “I have asked for conservative spending, environmental standards for our governmental buildings, efficient/safe roadways, and Land Development Regulations that allow for investment in our community balanced by environmental protections.”

Smith ran on a campaign focused on restoring civil discourse at City Hall and also suggested City Hall had credibility problems. He secured 61.8% of the vote to Feller’s 38.2%

“We have work to do to restore trust in government. We need to bring everyone together to solve problems,” he said in a campaign statement.

Daniel Kuether, Chair of the Sarasota County Democratic Party, categorized the wins as victories for everyday citizens.

“It’s clear that the citizens of Venice are sick and tired of developers like Pat Neal buying these elections with an inordinate amount of money so that he can easily push his proposals through the council later in the year,” Kuether said.

Feller ran on a campaign focused on sustainable growth and supporting law enforcement.

In Punta Gorda, Kuharski lost his District 3 seat to Deborah Lux. With 15 of 16 precincts counted, the challenger won 71.6% of the vote to the incumbent’s 28.5%.

Lux has sent newsletters out professing her love of the Charlotte County community. “Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey,” one reads. “The fellowship we have shared has been the campaign’s most cherished reward.”

Kuharski finished one two-year term on the City Council but voters denied him a second.

“It has been an honor and privilege to serve,” Kuharski said on his campaign website.

VENICE – Venice was named the place in Florida that best balances big city living and suburban atmosphere and No. 5 in the country in a survey conducted by STORAGECafe, a nationwide online search company for self-storage units. Only one other Florida city, Boca Raton, which ranked 12th, made the national top 20.

The city frequently makes lists compiled by the self-storage company.

For example, in October 2021, Venice was named the top snowbird destination and in January 2021 it was the 11th best suburb in the nation and tops in Florida for a city feel.

“I think it’s a jewel that’s being uncovered and they’re starting to find it,” said Venice Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kathy Lehner. “This little gem that we had stashed here – along with the millions of sharks' teeth are being dug up – no pun intended.

On a previous list:Storage company ranks Venice the 11th best suburb in the nation and tops Florida list

“I moved here 37 years ago so it was this little gem that I chose over a bigger city that I was used to, be it Tampa or Fort Myers,” she added. “It was this nice, little town and you know what, even though we’re growing and we’re getting bigger we’re still I would say quieter than some of our surroundings, such as Sarasota, Fort Myers, St. Pete – they are really booming and as much as we are we still have that little hometown feel.”

Venice Mayor Nick Pachota called the increased exposure bittersweet.

“It’s great from the standpoint that we’re doing something right and that brings people to us, but at the same time, as somebody who grew up here, there’s just a lot of development right now and it’s moving really fast,” said Pachota, who added that it’s a daunting task to keep up with that development and make sure it stays in line with infrastructure.

Like Lehner, he too pointed to the small-town feel in Venice as an appeal, then added, “One of the advantages to moving back here with my family was all the water activities that we have. There’s just a lot of fun stuff to do here.”

Here’s more about how STORAGECafe arrived at its survey and what other cities ranked in the top 10.

From 2019:Venice ranks No. 2 among livable Florida cities

Tumble from the top:What happened? Sarasota drops out of Top 10 list of best places to retire in the US

Venice ranked high for residential options and amenities

STORAGECafe uses the city of Venice in developing its rankings, a spokeswoman for the website said via email but it also uses aspects of communities nearby in unincorporated Sarasota County and even the city of North Port in its formula.

Venice gets credit for its lively streets, diverse residential population, and entertainment opportunities. The site alludes to the fact that in addition to its traditional snowbird appeal, it’s also a destination for “zoombirds,” who can telecommute to work.

The outside areas come into play as the site references a 15% increase in the local population over the past five years, as well as a nod to Stillwell at Wellen Park – located in the city of North Port – as one of the bigger developments in the area.

Stillwell, developed by Coastal Ridge Real Estate as a build-to-rent community of 274 single-family homes, could see its first residents as soon as June 5, according to that company’s website.

How the rankings were compiled

To compile the list of the best suburbs with urban flair, StorageCAFE analyzed 912 cities with a population between 10,000 and 100,000 people in the largest metropolitan area.

Factors considered included housing affordability and diversity, demographics, business environment, shopping and dining, health, education, safety, transportation, and self-storage prices and availability.

And the best place is…

The small city that best combines that urban feel and suburban comfort was Edina, Minnesota, with almost 53,500 residents according to the 2020 U.S. Census.

It earned points for a strong business sector – with almost 58 businesses per 1,000 residents, and 125 square feet of office space per capita – amenities and transportation.

No. 2 was Falls Church, Virginia, followed by Palo Alto, California, Franklin, Tennessee, and then Venice. To see all of the rankings, visit https://bit.ly/43TvM6X.
