There are dozens of coffee shops around Charlotte and beginning Friday, Sept. 29, several local and national coffee shops are offering deals and discounts in honor of the holidays.
Here’s a list of popular coffee places around town to check out for and what to know before you go:

How to celebrate: Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, voted best coffee shop in Charlotte, is offering a ‘buy one, get one’ deal for National Coffee Day on Friday. If you buy a bag of coffee, you’ll get a free 12 oz. drip coffee.

How to celebrate: Treat yourself to two drinks with a “buy one, get one half off” deal at Community Table Bistro. On Friday, you can get any coffee, espresso or tea and get the second one for half price.

How to celebrate: Dunkin’ Donuts will be offering a free cup of coffee with any purchase to Dunkin’ Rewards members on Friday for National Coffee Day. The donut shop is also teaming up with The Little Words Project to roll out Dunkin’-themed bracelets that will be available for a limited time only.

How to celebrate: Krispy Kreme is offering two deals for National Coffee Day: a free medium hot or iced coffee and a discounted $2 original glazed dozen donuts with the purchase of any dozen donuts. Both offers are available in-shop and drive-thru on Friday at participating shops.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - One of the biggest stars in country music is coming to the Queen City in 2024.
Morgan Wallen, the ACM’s reigning Male Artist of the Year, will bring his “One Night At A Time” tour to Bank of America Stadium on July 18. On Friday, tour organizers announced that due to overwhelming demand, a second Queen City show will take place at the stadium on July 19.

His shows will happen just over a month after fellow country stars George Strait and Chris Stapleton take the stage on June 1.
Wallen announced the latest set of tour dates on Instagram on Tuesday morning. NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning joined him in the announcement video.
So far, his 2024 dates include stops in Indianapolis, Oxford, Nashville, Minneapolis, Denver, Tampa, Arlington, Kansas City and Las Vegas, per the Instagram post.
Fans interested in going to the concert are encouraged to use advanced registration, which is open now through Sunday, Oct. 1 at 11:59 p.m. Those wishing to attend can register here. Once registration closes, fans will be randomly selected to receive a day/time of the presale along with a code that grants them access to the presale.
“Been one of the best years for me and my music so we’re gonna run it back,” Wallen said in the social media post. “Same tour name, staying on this album and many more cities to visit...I’ve got plans in mind to still sing Cowgirls, Man Made A Bar and who knows maybe 98 Braves. Let’s keep this thing going.”
Wallen will be joined by special guests Bailey Zimmerman, Nate Smith and Bryan Martin during his stop in Charlotte.
His name is now added to the list of A-List music superstars that Charlotte has attracted in recent years, joining the likes of Beyoncé, Elton John, Luke Combs and more.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Efforts to preserve and build affordable housing are underway in the Charlotte area. This week, the city of Charlotte awarded $17.5 million to seven affordable housing projects.
The money allows affordable housing developers to preserve and build nearly 800 units that will be priced below market, based on a renter or buyer’s income.
One of the grant recipients is Charlotte-based affordable developer Ascent Housing. The group is getting $2.4 million to buy and renovate the Swan Run Apartments in south Charlotte.
“Typically, the properties we acquire, including Swan Run, are often at risk of being purchased by a larger national private equity group that does modest small renovations but then increases the rents significantly,” explained Adelaide Martin with Ascent Housing.
By buying Swan Run and putting a deed restriction on the property, Ascent Housing will prevent that from happening to 92 affordable units.
Martin added their goal is to protect existing residents from rent increases while also offering some of the lowest rents in south Charlotte to new tenants when units open up.
Martin said that based on someone’s income and unit size; rent will range from $350 to $1,400 a month.
Another grant recipient is local group Roof Above. The organization is turning vacant dorms on the old Kings College campus in the Elizabeth neighborhood into a transitional housing program for men experiencing homelessness.
Plus, Charlotte-based developer Laurel Street also got money to help build affordable senior apartments in Matthews.
"The city has really stepped up over the last few years," Lee Cochran with Laurel Street said. "They used to allocate, through bond referendums, $15 million every two years, now they're doing $50 million every two years."

The senior community will be called Mount Moriah. Cochran said the project would not be possible without the city because one of the biggest hurdles for affordable housing projects is funding.
"It costs a certain amount of money to build and rehab affordable housing. So, in essence, the answer to building more affordable is typically more money," Cochran said.
Laurel Street will take resident applications for Mount Moriah in Fall 2025.
