Lost in Yonkers is Simon’s Masterpiece. The New York times says Yonkers is "the best play Simon ever wrote...America's greatest comic playwright gives us a rich memory play full of insight, laughter and tears." The play won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Tony Award for Best Play, and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play.
The play centers around two brothers, Arty and Jay Kurnitz, who live with their callous grandmother and their Aunt Bella while their father travels, desperately trying to scrape together enough money to pay off his debts to a loan shark. MORRISTOWN, NJ — The national bakery café chain Paris Baguette is moving into Morristown.
The chain, which offers sandwiches, hand-crafted cakes, breads, and coffee drinks, told Patch that they will be opening up their newest location at 10 Lafayette Avenue.
According to Paris Baguette Chief Development Officer Eric Lavinder, the goal is to be ready to open the store within the next year.
"We have a lease signed, and we're working on construction plans as we speak. Typically, construction can take 14 to 18 weeks, give or take some permitting challenges, equipment, contractors and that kind of stuff, but we would definitely hope to be open mid-next year," Lavinder said.
Paris Baguette is in the midst of a national expansion plan. Their newest Morristown location will bring the total number of Paris Baguette cafés in the county to more than 150. The nearest existing Paris Baguette in New Jersey is in Livingston.
Paris Baguette is a bakery café franchise with more than 4,000 units across the globe. The brand was first franchised in the U.S. in 2015 and has since established more than 150 locations in markets across the country, making it one of the premier franchise opportunities in its category.
According to Lavinder, the move to Morristown just made sense for the company because their headquarters are in Moonachie, which is only one hour away from the new Morristown location.
"We're excited to expand, but also excited to bring it to what we consider somewhat of a local community to where we are," Lavinder said. "You know, it took us a while to find the right location because we want to make sure that we set our franchisees up for ultimate success. This kind of worked out perfectly for us," he continued.
Once they are open, the café is expected to bring in anywhere from 25 to 50 jobs to the area, officials said.
"It's not just a fast food restaurant. It's really a skill that people learn that they can elevate and grow into within the franchise. There are a lot of different levels to our complexity that allow them the ability to learn some good transferable skills as they grow their experience in the workplace," Lavinder said.
While the chain is well-known for its breads and pastries, it also serves up salads, sandwiches and seasonal items and offers catering.
Some of the more unique items on the menu include:
"You can come in and get daily pastries and daily items. We're really about creating that vibe—that old nostalgia of the neighborhood bakery cafés that we were all probably used to a long time ago. We're bringing that back and are really excited about the fact that we're bringing something, something that we believe is unique to the marketplace," Lavinder said.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — PrimoHoagies, the gourmet specialty sandwich chain, has set a date for the grand opening of their newest Morristown location.
According to officials, the newest location will officially open on Oct. 26 at 10 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set to begin promptly at 9:45 a.m.
The store, located at 44 Speedwell Ave., Morristown, is owned by local residents Patty Babb and Drew Busa.
“We're beyond excited to introduce Morristown to the authentic flavors and quality that PrimoHoagies is known for,” said Babb. “It’s an exciting new chapter for us, and the vibrant energy and growth in this city make it the perfect place for our second venture.”
Babb and Busa are excited to establish their second PrimoHoagies store, following the success of their first, which opened earlier this year in Byram.
Babb, who also already owns six Dunkin' Donuts outlets in the area with her husband, Russ, met Busa while working at their various sites. Babb said she saw Busa as the ideal candidate to co-own their upcoming PrimoHoagies after being impressed by his drive and abilities.
The location was carefully chosen by the team, who recognized Morristown's attraction as a burgeoning hub for new businesses and a magnet for young residents, showing a unique urban environment in North Jersey.
The 1,800-square-foot store is expected to employ about 15 people, with dine-in seating, takeout, and delivery options. PrimoHoagies also offers catering, including its popular hoagie trays, which are perfect for special events, gamedays and luncheons.
The Morristown location will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
"To celebrate Morristown’s new favorite hoagie destination, PrimoHoagies is offering the first 100 customers in line on Oct. 26 a free Primo Size Hoagie. For the rest of Grand Opening Day, customers who enroll in the rewards program will enjoy Primo Size Hoagies for just $6.99," officials said.

The former chair of the Morristown Housing Authority has been charged with theft after Morris County officials say she used a company-issued credit card to take nearly $25,000 earlier this year.
Maureen Denman, 61, made 97 ATM withdrawals totaling $24,860 between Feb. 10 and April 6, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed last Friday by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. The complaint also states that she changed the status of a credit card issued by the housing authority "without authorization to do so," which allowed her to make the withdrawals.
Denman was executive director of the Morristown Community Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the housing authority, at the time of the alleged crimes. She is also listed online as the chair of the Morristown Environmental Commission as well as acting treasurer of the town Democratic Committee.
Housing authority executive director Keith Kinard described the Morristown Community Development Corporation as a "development arm" of his agency, with a mission to explore new affordable housing opportunities in Morristown. He confirmed to the Daily Record that Denman served as chair of the housing authority before leaving for the offshoot organization.
"Any alleged theft was related to her role with [Morristown Community Development Corporation]," he said.
Kinard reported the suspected theft and fraud by an employee to the prosecutor's office on Aug. 2, according to the affidavit. An investigation revealed that Denman conducted unauthorized withdrawals with a Lakeland Bank credit card issued by the Morristown Community Development Corporation to use for "families in need."
Local:Morristown Medical Center's 'huge' expansion plans spur questions at council meeting
Denman did not comment on the allegations but provided a statement Wednesday night from her attorney, W. Michael Murphy. Murphy highlighted his client's years of volunteer service to Morristown and called her "a source of assistance to numerous individuals who have suffered from challenging issues."
"Her friendship and mentoring remains a source of comfort and inspiration to countless friends, family members and neighbors," Murphy said. "Over the next several months she will steadfastly address the issues that have arisen during her time of service to the Morristown Housing Authority."
Denman is facing third-degree theft and fraud charges, the affidavit said. She has an appearance in Morris County Superior Court scheduled for Oct. 18.
