Did you know that more than 40% of adults in the United States suffer from obesity? Unfortunately, there is no miracle cure for this condition. Perhaps worse is that more and more adults and children are gaining weight across the country, choosing the convenience of fast and nutrition-deficient foods over healthy eating, exercise, and positive life choices. Custom Medical Weight Loss Plans

If you're ready to get back to loving your life with more energy, confidence, and positivity, medical weight loss with peptide therapy may be for you. But to truly understand the benefits of peptides like Semaglutide, it's important you grasp what peptide therapy is and how it benefits your body.

Semaglutide Treatment in Seaport, NY

Many individuals turn to peptide therapy to enhance their overall wellbeing by boosting hormones. Different types of peptides can target different areas of health, such as collagen peptides that can help improve skin, hair, and gut health.

Other peptides, such as AOD 9604, CJC 1295, and Semaglutide in Seaport, NY, are incredibly beneficial for losing weight. Compared to vitamin supplements, peptide therapy works differently as peptides are already part of the proteins in our bodies, making them easier to absorb and benefit from. Conversely, our bodies can sometimes fail to absorb all the nutrients present in multivitamins, leading to their excretion through urine.

However, it's important to note that weight loss is a complex process that involves various factors like age, genetics, lifestyle, exercise, and diet. While peptides like Semaglutide can provide much-needed assistance in achieving your weight loss goals, they are most effective when combined with healthy dietary choices, regular exercise routines, and overall healthier lifestyle choices.

If you've already tried different weight loss plans and diets but haven't had any success, medical weight loss with peptide therapy may provide that extra boost you need to realize your goals.

What is Semaglutide Treatment in Seaport, NY?

If you're looking to lose weight and keep it off, diet and exercise are important, but it can be difficult to stick to a routine. For busy adults and parents, Semaglutide can be a helpful tool for weight loss. This injection, approved by the FDA for diabetes and obesity, works by stimulating GLP-1 receptors in the brain to aid in weight loss and improve long-term health.

You may be wondering to yourself, "That sounds great, but how does this type of peptide work?" Semaglutide acts like glucagon in your body, which signals to your brain that you're full and don't need to eat anymore. When you take Semaglutide, and you try to overeat, your body waves a proverbial red flag as if to say, "That's enough."

Semaglutide also slows down digestion, reducing unnecessary snacking throughout the day. By reducing glucose spikes after meals, it reduces inflammation, which is important for overall health. Additionally, Semaglutide helps your pancreas secrete insulin, regulates the glucose levels in your body, and even has anti-aging and longevity properties. If you're struggling to lose weight, peptide therapies for weight loss like Semaglutide can be an invaluable addition to your weight loss plan from Global Life Rejuvenation.

Who Should Consider Semaglutide Therapy in Seaport, NY?

There are multiple medications available to combat obesity by suppressing appetite and promoting weight loss. However, Semaglutide stands out as an exceptional option.

A recent study of 2,000 obese adults examined the effects of Semaglutide when combined with a diet and exercise program. The results were compared to those who only made lifestyle changes without taking Semaglutide. After 68 weeks, it was found that half of the participants using Semaglutide lost 15% of their body weight, with nearly a third losing 20%. In contrast, those who only made lifestyle changes lost an average of 2.4% of their weight.

It's obvious, then, that Semaglutide is a safe and effective supplement for your weight loss journey with Global Life Rejuvenation. But who is the ideal patient who should be taking it?

If you have a body mass index (BMI) of 27kg/m2 or higher and at least one weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure, Type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol, or if your BMI is 30kg/m2 or higher, the FDA recommends Semaglutide for weight loss.

Healthy Eating Tips While Taking Semaglutide

As medical weight loss experts, one thing our doctors and practitioners know at Global Life Rejuvenation is that true weight loss isn't dictated by medicines. It's achieved by sticking to a combo of exercise, healthy life choices, and healthy eating habits. From there, peptides like Semaglutide in Seaport, NY are great for taking your weight loss efforts to the next level of success.

One area where many patients fail in this process is with their diet. If you're considering Semaglutide treatment, keep these diet tips in mind.

Eat Whole Foods

Eat Whole Foods

To enhance your dietary habits, a practical approach is to concentrate on consuming whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats. These food items are rich in nutrients and can provide a feeling of fullness and satisfaction while also promoting your overall wellbeing.

Be Mindful When You Eat

Be Mindful When You Eat

Eating mindfully involves being fully present and engaged during meals. This entails taking the time to enjoy the flavor of your food, being aware of your body's hunger and fullness signals, and avoiding distractions like electronics or television.

Keep Your Body Hydrated

Keep Your Body Hydrated

To maintain good health and support weight loss, it's crucial to drink plenty of water. It's recommended to drink at least 8-10 cups of water daily. You may also try adding low-calorie drinks like herbal tea or infused water to keep things interesting.

Meal-Prepping

Use Meal Prepping to Your Advantage

Planning your meals in advance is an effective approach to maintaining a healthy diet. Set aside some time each week to plan your meals and snacks, keeping in mind to incorporate a balance of protein, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats. This will prevent impulsive food choices and guarantee that you have nutritious options available when hunger strikes.

Other Peptide Therapies and Medicines for Medical Weight Loss in Seaport, NY

Unlike many medical weight loss clinics, which only offer cookie-cutter weight loss plans and one or two additional fat-busting solutions, Global Life Rejuvenation provides access to new, innovative supplements and medicines. If you're used to fad diets and "quick" weight loss plans, peptides like AOD 9604 and others may be new to you. To help build your foundation of healthy living knowledge, let's take a look at a few of the most popular weight-loss peptides and medicines available at Global Life Rejuvenation.

Semiglutide Weight Loss Seaport, NY

AOD 9604 for Weight Loss

Often combined with Semaglutide regimens, AOD 9604 is known to promote fat breakdown, inhibit lipogenesis, and support tendons and cartilage. However, most recently, it has gained popularity due to its ability to boost metabolism and aid in burning fat.

What sets AOD 9604 apart is that it stimulates the pituitary gland without affecting tissue growth or blood sugar levels. Additionally, it can burn fat without causing overeating, making it a viable option for obese men and women who are trying to implement better eating habits.

Interestingly, AOD 9604 activates your body's fat-burning processes without requiring an HGH receptor. It also releases obese fat cells and reduces the accumulation of new fat cells. By helping to regulate blood sugar and manage insulin levels, AOD 9604 is excellent for weight loss but also for other maladies like inflammation.

Some conditions that this powerful peptide can help address include the following:

  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • Damaged Cartilage
  • Arthritis

CJC 1295 and Ipamorelin for Weight Loss

This medical weight loss supplement Is technically a combo of two peptides. These substances work by stimulating your pituitary gland to produce more of your body's natural human growth hormone, which is secreted during both waking and sleeping periods.

This results in increased protein synthesis and levels of insulin-like growth factors. As hormone secretagogues, they help release hormones into circulation while mimicking the pituitary gland's production. Extensive research has been conducted on the effects of CJC 1295 and Ipamorelin. As a tool for medical weight loss, it has shown very promising results.

That's because when growth hormone levels increase, nutrients are transported through the body faster, more fat is burned, and weight management becomes simpler. Additionally, because CJC 1295 and Ipamorelin increase the amount of growth hormone in your body, it stimulates the breakdown of triglycerides in adipocytes, leading to improved fat metabolism and reduced abdominal fat.

Benefits of CJC 1295 and Ipamorelin for weight loss include:

  • Weight Loss
  • Reduction in Body Fat
  • Boosted Metabolism
  • More Energy
  • Enhanced Immune System
  • More

MIC Injections for Weight Loss

A Methionine Inositol Choline (MIC) injection is a mixture of lipotropics that aid in fat breakdown. The key components - methionine, inositol, and choline - work together to metabolize fat cells and eliminate stored fat deposits in the liver and body. Methionine is an important amino acid, inositol contributes to proper cell formation, and choline is a water-soluble nutrient that promotes healthy liver function. When combined, these compounds may help reduce body fat.

When used in conjunction with a medical weight loss plan from Global Life Rejuvenation, MIC injections can be a powerful addition to reclaiming your health and wellbeing.

Phentermine for Weight Loss

Like other weight loss peptides and medicines on this page, Phentermine can help you lose weight when you stick to a medical weight loss plan that includes dieting, exercise, and smart life choices. It does so by reducing your appetite, which limits the number of calories you eat every day.

As is the case with Semaglutide, Phentermine has been approved by the FDA and is supported by clinical studies that show it can support weight loss. With time, patience, and healthy living, this supplement may help you reach your wellness goals sooner than you thought possible.

7-Keto DHEA for Weight Loss

In the body, 7-keto-DHEA is produced from dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), which is a hormone made by glands near your kidneys. However, unlike DHEA, 7-keto-DHEA is not converted into androgen and estrogen in your body. Instead, 7-keto-DHEA is used orally or topically to boost your body's metabolism. It also helps convert more of your energy into heat, instead of storing it in your body as fat, which can accumulate with time and lifestyle choices.

Much like Semaglutide treatment in Seaport, NY, 7-keto-DHEA has been shown to be very effective for weight loss as well as a host of other issues. Additional benefits of taking 7-keto-DHEA may include the following:

  • Weight Loss
  • Improvement to Lean Muscle Mass
  • Boosted Thyroid Activity
  • Enhanced Memory
  • Anti-Aging Treatment
  • Better Memory

The free event will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 2pm, at 12 Fulton Street. southstreetseaportmuseum.org/lenapehoking

Ramapo-Munsee Lenape Tribal Leaders will give remarks and discuss the history of Lenapehoking, the Indigenous territory of the Canarsee and Manahatoos, who once cultivated and protected the lands that are now known as the South Street Seaport. The ceremony will include screening of the short film Silent Tribute, A Rainey Film & Media Production, and close with a traditional flute song.

Following the ceremony, Amy Martinez, Ramapo-Munsee Lenape tribal member, will present an Indigenous book reading of a work authored by a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape.

A reception will follow the program. Registration is encouraged for this free event but walkups will be accommodated as possible.

Brief Indigenous Seaport History

This history is included in the South Street Seaport Museum Land Acknowledgement that will be dedicated by Ramapo-Munsee Lenape Tribal Leaders.

Although natives used tributaries as central highways through the middle of town, they were obligated to use the same rivers as boundaries with colonial land speculators, thus upsetting their own sense of relationship to the land. All headwaters were considered sacred-places where warfare were banned. Rivers and streams were the main forms of transportation. Canoers would take full advantage of the tides to conserve the (muscle and caloric) energy of the day.

An effective energy conserving practice was to hoist the canoe and all their gear over their heads and walk from one river to the other on foot along certain trails. Those trails were special portage trails and many are still in existence today. In one or two hours of "carrying it" a team of canoers could eliminate up to 10 hours of paddling. Americas Native-worn portages were discovered by the French, hence the name.

One of the characteristics that unites this lower Manahatouac region in terms of trade and cuisine was and still is the delectable oyster. It is said that on September 12th and 13th, 1609, when Henry Hudson first tasted his first very good local oysters the region had 350 miles of oyster reefs and over half the worlds population of oysters, could be found in Manahatouac.

Quoted from Mapping Manahatouac: Land Acknowledgements for Manhattan, Long Island, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Northern New Jersey and Downstate New York, by Evan Pritchard, of the Center for Algonquin Culture.

It’s good to be No. 1.

That’s the spot held for more than two decades by the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports, a combined international trade powerhouse that moves nearly 40% of the products imported from Asia to U.S. stores and factories. Tens of thousands of jobs across Southern California depend on a steady stream of imports and exports through San Pedro Harbor.

Despite pandemic supply chain snafus, an enormous floating traffic jam of ships and a dockworker contract dispute at various points during the last three years, the neighboring ports have moved enough big steel cargo boxes to stay at the top of the import-export heap. Along with bragging rights comes the ability to attract more business, more investment and more jobs.

So it came as a bit of a surprise down on the docks late last year when the East Coast rival ports of New York-New Jersey blasted a series of monthly alerts in which officials said their complex was the busiest cargo container handler in America. Then, in April, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey issued a news release headlined: “Port of New York and New Jersey regains top spot as busiest port in the nation.” A flurry of media reports mused on what appeared to be a historic turning point.

“The Port of New York and New Jersey is again No. 1 in the nation,” Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole said in the April news release. Executive Director Rick Cotton said the dethroning of Los Angeles and Long Beach “demonstrates the port’s continued reliability and consistency as other ports experienced uncertainty and challenges.”

But a close examination of the data reveals that Port Authority officials back their claims with some statistical sleight of hand. The Port Authority compared freight traffic through its sprawling two-state jurisdiction with the individual ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach rather than combining the two local ports, as most economists and shipping experts do.

And fresh data show that Los Angeles and Long Beach combined to handle significantly more freight than New York-New Jersey through the first six months of the year despite West Coast labor unrest during much of that time.

Business

Dec. 16, 2022

“It’s unfortunate,” said L.A. port Executive Director Gene Seroka, with characteristic understatement. “Because some people in policy areas or in business areas are making decisions on whether to do business with us or not. We have been the nation’s busiest container port for 23 straight years.”

“To the extent that shippers hear those comments and make decisions based on them, it’s troubling,” said Mario Cordero, chief executive of the Long Beach port. Along with Los Angeles, he said, “We will continue to be the biggest gateway for international trade for years to come.”

Officials at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey did not respond to numerous interview requests.

The low-key sparring underscores the challenges facing Los Angeles and Long Beach, which have been losing business to competitors on the East and Gulf coasts amid labor and other disruptions. Seroka recently estimated that his port had lost about 15% of its cargo to other harbors since August.

The latest port statistics show that Los Angeles and Long Beach together moved 7.9 million cargo containers during the first six months of the year, compared with 3.7 million handled by New York-New Jersey, an amalgamation of berths so numerous that it once took 12 jurisdictions in two states to manage them.

But the Eastern port complex did manage to push Long Beach out of the second spot in 2022 and during the first six month of 2023, illustrating how changing shipping patterns and years of increased investment by ports on the East and Gulf coasts have grabbed business away from Southern California.

Business

June 15, 2023

New York-New Jersey had a record year in 2022, handling 9.5 million containers. That put it second to Los Angeles’ 9.9 million containers but well behind the 19 million cargo boxes moved by Los Angeles and Long Beach combined last year.

“The monthly data on volumes of trade from the ports is very seasonal, “ said Gigi Moreno, a senior economist at the Southern California Assn. of Governments. “There are a lot of ups and downs. Depending on the month you’re looking at it’s going to be really high or really low, which is why the annual numbers are more indicative of economic trends.”

Although local port operations have returned to normal, challenges remain for the region’s international trade sector.

In the short term, port officials are meeting with customers to assure them that operations are back to normal after shipping lines and terminal operators reached a tentative contract agreement in June with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union covering workers at 29 West Coast ports, Seroka said during a July media briefing. Not all of the lost cargo will come back, he said.

“The ships don’t just turn on their left-hand blinker and make a left turn back to Los Angeles. It takes a little bit of work,” Seroka said. “It’s still a relationship-based business.”

That’s why, Seroka and Cordero have said, they spend so much time on the road, visiting customers and lobbying lawmakers for more money.

One factor working against West Coast ports is the growth of manufacturing in nonunion Southeast states, said economist Jock O’Connell of Beacon Economics.

“As a result now, you’ve got this question of: How are you going to get the goods from Asia to the southeastern quadrant of the United States? It’s become a lot easier to do that trade through the ports on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts,” O’Connell said.

O’Connell also pointed out that global tensions have caused businesses to move their manufacturing out of China to Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and other countries, giving shippers a choice of heading to the U.S. West Coast or through the Suez Canal and on to East Coast ports.

In addition, East and Gulf coast ports have been aggressively seeking funding to deepen harbors and improve accessibility and the speed of cargo movement.

Improved infrastructure is what makes growth possible at major seaports, said Cory Davis, vice president and general counsel for the American Assn. of Port Authorities, much like what the Port of Los Angeles accomplished in the early 2000s when it built a 500-acre island in the middle of its side of San Pedro Harbor. That project, called Pier 400, allowed Los Angeles to woo the world’s largest shipping line, Maersk, away from its Long Beach neighbor.

But in recent years, the biggest spenders haven’t been Los Angeles and Long Beach, helping other ports gain market share.

Los Angeles and Long Beach last month won nearly $600 million in state grants, out of $1.5 billion in statewide funds awarded, for clean air and infrastructure projects, but they’ve received a relatively small share of federal money from the 2021 infrastructure bill and other funding mechanisms.

In spite of the challenges, some experts say, Los Angeles and Long Beach have advantages that other seaports don’t, which should help them stay ahead of their rivals. Inland Empire economist John Husing said those advantages include better rail connections and the vast network of warehouse and distribution resources in the Inland Empire.

“The level of infrastructure here in Southern California is so deep that this will continue to be the No. 1 location for trade coming into the United States for a long time to come,” Husing said.

South Street Seaport Seeks Distinct Retail Concepts for Next Development Phase

NEW YORK Over the past five years, The Howard Hughes Corp. has been working diligently to create a true destination for both locals and tourists at New York’s South Street Seaport.

First up was the redevelopment of Pier 17 — a four-story, 300,000-square-foot space jutting out into the East River — into an entertainment and dining venue. That was followed last year by the opening of the Tin Building, a 53,000-square-foot marketplace with 12 food and beverage experiences conceived in partnership with famed chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Now, the focus is turning to what Zach Winick, copresident of the New York region for Howard Hughes, calls the “cobblestones.” That’s the 60,000 square feet of retail space on the east side of the FDR Drive.

Last week, Howard Hughes Corp. said that it has retained JLL to be the exclusive retail agent for that space as well as the entire Seaport property, which encompasses more than 450,000 square feet in lower Manhattan.

The Seaport dates back to the 1600s with its largest commerce as a bustling fish market occurring around the 1860s. The famous Fulton Fish Market — which is now the Tin Building — opened there in 1822. More than 40 years ago, the Rouse Corp. set out to restore and redevelop the location similar to what it had done at Faneuil Hall in Boston. Retailers such as Abercrombie & Fitch and J. Crew opened there in the 1980s and attracted large numbers of visitors. But over the years, the Seaport has experienced a number of ups and downs with stores arriving with great fanfare but then quietly exiting. That was the case with 10 Corso Como, which opened an outpost there in 2018, but closed two years later.

Howard Hughes Corp., which has owned the property since 2010, has committed to invest $1.4 billion to transform the site by not only upgrading the retail component but also adding condos and affordable housing and supporting the struggling South Street Seaport Museum.

The project is unique, according to Patrick Smith, vice chairman of JLL Retail, because Howard Hughes owns the entire Seaport district and can execute one vision for its development.

Much like what exists within the Tin Building, which offers distinct food and beverage offerings, the retail leasing will center around concepts not found in other parts of the city.

“The Seaport is one of New York’s most charming neighborhoods and an established destination in its own right,” said Smith. “As the global retail market continues to recover and reinvent itself, we will be looking to build on the ecosystem already in place with compelling new offerings, flexible terms for unique and relevant concepts and carefully selected long-term anchors positioned for success with a forward-thinking, well capitalized ownership group.”

Right now, there is a mix of permanent and pop-up shops including long-time tenant McNally Jackson, an independent bookseller, as well as pop-ups for the SRGN, or the Shoe Surgeon, Hiit the Deck boxing and a Malibu Barbie Café. There are also a number of empty spaces.

Smith said both permanent and temporary tenants will be sought — as long as they meet the criteria. “We’ll be focusing on different types of tenancy,” he said. “Retail tends to be very homogenous, but this is a project that is not homogenous. We’re not going to rent to an apparel brand you can find in any other city.”

Instead, JLL will be searching for innovative merchants who want to bring something distinct to lower Manhattan. “It can be a canvas for people to try things,” he said.

At the same time, there is also an opportunity for a larger tenant in what once housed the A&F store. That 20,000-square-foot space could be home to an anchor, possibly an international retailer looking to expand to the U.S., they said.

“The Seaport is poised for major growth as we continue the ongoing revitalization of the neighborhood, reimagining a future that pays tribute to the past,” said Winick. “JLL understands our vision and partnering with them will cement the Seaport’s status as a year-round destination for residents, workers and visitors alike.”

The Seaport attracts more than 10 million visitors a year.

The South Street Seaport Museum's monthly Sea Chanteys and Maritime Music program—the original NYC Chantey Sing—continues on the first Sunday of every month presented in the hybrid format, both indoors at the Museum and online.

From November 2023 to April 2024, you are invited to join the lively chantey experience either in-person at the Seaport Museum's introduction galleries or virtually via Zoom, allowing you to join from anywhere. Each sing will be hosted by a local artist who will lead the sea-song sing-along, featuring a variety of traditional maritime work songs and ballads. Attendees are encouraged to sing along with the chorus or just sit back and enjoy their performance. Throughout the event, both in-person and virtual attendees take the stage for this round-robin where you can sing and share the chantey of your choice.

Singers of all levels, as well as listeners, are welcome to attend and can lead or request a traditional maritime work song or ballad. The program will offer a round-robin where anyone can sing and share the chantey of their choice, join in the choruses throughout the event, or just listen.

The November hybrid sing will be hosted by Bonnie Milner who sings traditional maritime songs and became interested in sea songs after hearing chanties sung at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut. Her interest was further carried by her friendship with the last working shantyman, Stan Hugil. Milner is a member of the renowned, all-woman quartet, The Johnson Girls, and she has toured extensively in Europe and North America.
