What is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a crucial hormone for men and plays an important role throughout the male lifespan. Most of a male's testosterone is produced through the testicles. Also called the male sex hormone, testosterone starts playing its part during puberty.

When a male goes through puberty, testosterone helps males develop:

  • Facial Hair
  • Body Hair
  • Deeper Voice
  • Muscle Strength
  • Increased Libido
  • Muscle Density

As boys turn to men and men grow older, testosterone levels deplete naturally. Sometimes, events like injuries and chronic health conditions like diabetes can lower testosterone levels. Unfortunately, when a man loses too much T, it results in hypogonadism. When this happens, the testosterone must be replaced, or the male will suffer from symptoms like muscle loss, low libido, and even depression.

How Does TRT Work?

TRT is exactly what it sounds like: a treatment option for men that replaces testosterone so that your body regulates hormones properly and restores balance to your life. Also called androgen replacement therapy, TRT alleviates the symptoms that men experience with low T.

Originally lab-synthesized in 1935, testosterone has grown in popularity since it was produced. Today, TRT and other testosterone treatments are among the most popular prescriptions in the U.S.

Without getting too deep into the science, TRT works by giving your body the essential testosterone it needs to function correctly. As the primary androgen for both males and females, testosterone impacts many of the body's natural processes – especially those needed for overall health. For example, men with low T are more prone to serious problems like cardiovascular disease and even type-2 diabetes.

When your body quits making enough testosterone, it causes your health to suffer until a solution is presented. That's where TRT and anti-aging medicine for men can help. TRT helps balance your hormones and replenish your depleted testosterone. With time, your body will begin to heal, and many symptoms like low libido and irritability begin to diminish.

What Causes Low T?

For men, aging is the biggest contributor to lower testosterone levels, though there are other causes like obesity, drug abuse, testicular injuries, and certain prescribed medications. Sometimes, long-term health conditions like AIDS, cirrhosis of the liver, and kidney disease can lower testosterone levels.

When a man's testosterone levels drop significantly, it alters his body's ratio of estrogen and testosterone. Lower testosterone levels cause more abdominal fat, which in turn results in increased aromatase, which converts even more testosterone into estrogen.

If you're concerned that you might have low T, you're not alone. Millions of men in the U.S. feel the same way. The best way to find out if your testosterone is low is to get your levels tested.

For sustainable testosterone replacement therapy benefits, you must consult with hormone doctors and experts like those you can find at Global Life Rejuvenation. That way, you can find the root cause of your hormone problems, and our team can craft a personalized HRT plan tailored to your needs.

Low Sex Drive

One of the most common reasons that men choose TRT is because they have lost that "spark" with their partner. It's not easy for a man to hear that they're not performing like they used to. Intimacy is a powerful part of any relationship. When a once-healthy sex life dwindles, it can cause serious relationship issues.

The good news is that low libido doesn't have to be a permanent problem. TRT and anti-aging medicines help revert hormone levels back into their normal range. When this happens, many men have a more enjoyable life full of intimacy and sex drive.

Inability to Achieve and Maintain an Erection

Weak erections – it's an uncomfortable subject for many men in the U.S. to talk about. It's even worse to experience first-hand. You're in the midst of an intimate moment, and you can't do your part. Despite being perfectly normal, many men put blame and shame upon themselves when they can't achieve an erection. And while the inability to perform sexually can be caused by poor diet, obesity, and chronic health conditions, low testosterone is often a contributing factor.

Fortunately, weak erections are a treatable condition. The best way to regain your confidence and ability in bed is to speak with your doctor. Once any underlying conditions are discovered, options like TRT may be the best course of treatment.

Loss of Strength and Muscle Mass

Do you find it harder and harder to work out and lift weights in the gym? Are you having problems lifting heavy items that you once had no problem lifting?

Recent studies show that when men are inactive, they lose .5% of muscle strength every year, from ages 25 to 60. After 60, muscle loss doubles every decade. While some muscle loss is common as men age, a significant portion can be tied to low testosterone levels. When a man's T levels drop, so does his muscle mass.

Testosterone is a much-needed component used in gaining and retaining muscle mass. That's why many doctors prescribe TRT Bridgewater, NJ, for men having problems with strength. One recent study found that men who increased their testosterone levels using TRT gained as much as 2.5 pounds of muscle mass.

Whether your gym performance is lacking, or you can't lift heavy items like you used to, don't blame it all on age. You could be suffering from hypogonadism.

Hair Loss

If you're like millions of other men in their late 20s and 30s, dealing with hair loss is a reality you don't want to face. Closely related to testosterone decline and hormone imbalances, hair loss is distressing for many men. This common symptom is often related to a derivative of testosterone called DHT. Excess amounts of DHT cause hair follicles to halt their production, causing follicles to die.

Because hair located at the front and crown is more sensitive to DHT, it grows slower than other follicles and eventually stops growing permanently. Thankfully, TRT and anti-aging treatments for men in Bridgewater, NJ, is now available to address hair loss for good.

While it's true that you can't change your genes, you can change the effects of low testosterone on your body. Whether you're suffering from thinning hair or hair loss across your entire head, TRT and other hormone therapies can stop hair loss and even reverse the process.

Gynecomastia

Also called "man boobs," gynecomastia is essentially the enlargement of male breast tissue. This increase in fatty tissue is often caused by hormonal imbalances and an increase in estrogen. For men, estrogen levels are elevated during andropause. Also called male menopause, andropause usually happens because of a lack of testosterone.

If you're a man between the ages of 40 and 55, and you're embarrassed by having large breasts, don't lose hope. TRT is a safe, effective way to eliminate the underlying cause of gynecomastia without invasive surgery. With a custom HRT and fitness program, you can bring your testosterone and estrogen levels back to normal before you know it.

Decreased Energy

Decreased energy was once considered a normal part of aging. Today, many doctors know better. Advances in technology and our understanding of testosterone show that low T and lack of energy often go hand-in-hand.

If you're struggling to enjoy activities like playing with your kids or hiking in a park due to lack of energy, it could be a sign of low T. Of course, getting tired is perfectly normal for any man. But if you're suffering from continual fatigue, a lack of enjoyment, or a decrease in energy, it might be time to speak with a doctor.

Whether you're having a tough time getting through your day or can't finish activities you used to love, TRT could help.

Lack of Sleep

A study from 2011 showed that men who lose a week's worth of sleep can experience lowered testosterone levels – as much as 15%, according to experts. Additional research into the topic found almost 15% of workers only get five hours of sleep (or less) per night. These findings suggest that sleep loss negatively impacts T levels and wellbeing.

The bottom line is that men who have trouble sleeping often suffer from lower testosterone levels as a result. If you find yourself exhausted at the end of the day but toss and turn all night long, you might have low T.

TRT and anti-aging medicines can restore your T levels back to normal, which can help you sleep better with proper diet and exercise.

Depression

You're feeling down about everything, and there's no solid explanation for why you're in such a crummy mood. Your daily life is great and full of success, but you can't help but feel unexcited and unmotivated. If you're experiencing symptoms like these, you may be depressed – and it may stem from low testosterone.

A research study from Munich found that men with depression also commonly had low testosterone levels. This same study also found that depressed men had cortisol levels that were 67% higher than other men. Because higher cortisol levels lead to lower levels of testosterone, the chances of severe depression increase.

Depression is a very real disorder and should always be diagnosed and treated by your doctor. One treatment option gaining in popularity is TRT for depression. Studies show that when TRT is used to restore hormone levels, men enjoy a lighter, more improved mood. That's great news for men who are depressed and have not had success with other treatments like anti-depression medicines, which alter the brain's chemistry.

Inability to Concentrate

Ask anyone over the age of 50 how their memory is, and they'll tell you it wasn't what it used to be. Memory loss and lack of concentration occur naturally as we age – these aren't always signs of dementia or Alzheimer's.

However, what many men consider a symptom of age may be caused by low testosterone. A 2006 study found that males with low T levels performed poorly on cognitive skill tests. These results suggest that low testosterone may play a part in reducing cognitive ability. If you're having trouble staying on task or remembering what your schedule is for the day, it might not be due to your age. It might be because your testosterone levels are too low. If you're having trouble concentrating or remembering daily tasks, it could be time to talk to your doctor.

Why? The aforementioned study found that participating men experienced improved cognitive skills when using TRT.

Weight Gain

Even though today's society is more inclusive of large people, few adults enjoy gaining weight as they age. Despite their best efforts, many men just can't shed the extra pounds around their midsections, increasing their risk of heart disease and cancer.

Often, male weight gain is caused by hormone imbalances that slow the metabolism and cause weight to pile on. This phase of life is called andropause and happens when there is a lack of testosterone in the body. Couple that with high cortisol levels, and you've got a recipe for flabby guts and double chins.

Fortunately, TRT treatments and physician-led weight loss programs can correct hormone imbalances and lead to healthy weight loss for men.

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic hormone peptide, like GHRH, which triggers the release of growth hormones. When used under the care of a qualified physician, Sermorelin can help you lose weight, increase your energy levels, and help you feel much younger.

 HRT For Men Bridgewater, NJ

Benefits of Sermorelin

Human growth hormone (HGH) therapy has been used for years to treat hormone deficiencies. Unlike HGH, which directly replaces declining human growth hormone levels, Sermorelin addresses the underlying cause of decreased HGH, stimulating the pituitary gland naturally. This approach keeps the mechanisms of growth hormone production active.

Benefits of Sermorelin include:

  • Better Immune Function
  • Improved Physical Performance
  • More Growth Hormone Production
  • Less Body Fat
  • Build More Lean Muscle
  • Better Sleep
 Human Growth Hormone Bridgewater, NJ

What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin helps to release growth hormones in a person's body by mimicking a peptide called ghrelin. Ghrelin is one of three hormones which work together to regulate the growth hormone levels released by the pituitary gland. Because Ipamorelin stimulates the body to produce growth hormone, your body won't stop its natural growth hormone production, which occurs with synthetic HGH.

Ipamorelin causes growth hormone secretion that resembles natural release patterns rather than being constantly elevated from HGH. Because ipamorelin stimulates the natural production of growth hormone, our patients can use this treatment long-term with fewer health risks.

 Ipamorelin Bridgewater, NJ

One of the biggest benefits of Ipamorelin is that it is suitable for both men and women. It provides significant short and long-term benefits in age management therapies, boosting patients' overall health, wellbeing, and outlook on life. When growth hormone is produced by the pituitary gland using Ipamorelin, clients report amazing benefits.

Some of those benefits include:

  • Powerful Anti-Aging Properties
  • More Muscle Mass
  • Less Unsightly Body Fat
  • Deep, Restful Sleep
  • Increased Athletic Performance
  • More Energy
  • Less Recovery Time for Training Sessions and Injuries

High Schoolers now have a seat at the table as a student advisory committee was created to allow them to share their voices with the board.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Three Bridgewater-Raritan High School students were announced as representatives of their school to the Board of Education during the Oct. 11 meeting.

Shaunak Gaiki, Anna Buckridge and Nandeenee Singh are the three high school seniors whowill attend the meetings and offer suggestions and opinions on behalf of their schoolmates.

The addition of three high school students to sit in during Board of Education meetings is theresult of a plan by the school district officials, including Superintendent Bob Beers.

"We really thought it would be worthwhile for us to have a student advisory committee to take part during the school so that when we have Board of Education reports from students it is not just a laundry list of things going on in the high school. But instead provides an opportunity for student voice on policies, procedures, etc. that affect the student body at the high school," said Beers at the meeting.

Two of the three representatives spoke at the meeting introducing themselves:

Singh is a senior at the high school and has been in the school district since half of her freshman year after moving from Montville.

Outside of school, she is focused on stem curricula such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantum computing classes. She also teaches coding. In school, she is part of the school's robotics team and on the school's Lincoln Douglas debate team.

Gaiki has been in the school district since kindergarten. In school, he is involved in every science aspect available.

He is the captain of the science bowl team, president of the bio team and on the Lincoln Douglas Debate team. Outside of school, he does STEM and cultural activities and runs a few non-profits teaching children.

"I am excited to work with these folks," said Board President Steven Singer calling the students "future legislators."

The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, at the high school’smedia center.

Basking Ridge husband and wife duo Mohnish and Noor Wadhwani are hosting a grand opening for their store Atheltifreak's first location.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Avid runner and Iron Man triathlete Mohnish "Mo" Wadhwani is used to rising before the sun and training for 8 hours a day in extreme temperatures.

His family and friends lovingly call him a "freak" for his dedication to fitness.

But to Wadhwani "adopting this lifestyle transformed me as a person and gave me healthier habits that have influenced my family and friends."

"I thought, if being a 'freak' can inspire and improve so many lives then - absolutely I am a freak!" said Wadhwani of Basking Ridge.

This revelation led Wadhwani to approach his fashion designer wife Noor about leaving his successful corporate career to open Athletifreak - a luxury activewear and apparel brand. She was totally on board.

Interested in local real estate?Subscribe to Patch's new newsletter to be the first to know about open houses, new listings and more.

Wadhwani had served as a corporate executive for places like Honeywell, Johnson and Johnson, and others for 12 years.

"My kids were 3 and 1 at the time. I was scared to give up my corporate career with little kids. I kept going back and forth," said Wadhwani.

Then in late 2019, he thought, "it's now or never."

The COVID pandemic delayed the opening of Athltifreak but the couple was able to finally launch in February 2021 at their home in Basking Ridge.

Wadhwani described the brand as the "perfect collision" of his corporate and athletic background and his wife's creative and fashion background.

They started with five products using custom-designed fabrics and have since grown to 120 products that are sold in 47 states and five continents.

Now they are ready to open their first retail location at the Bridgewater Commons mall, 400 Commons Way, Bridgewater on the second floor near the Atrium.

The grand opening will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. with Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench cutting the ribbon.

"We are super excited," said Wadhwani. "My wife and I put in love and energy. Our blood, sweat, and tears. That's what this is all about. With that, we are blessed."

Wadhwani said Athletifreak's entire premise is that greatness lies within.

"The athlete puts in endless hours to developing and training when no one is watching so that you can be successful when the lights are on. That's why we say greatness lies within," said Wadhwani. "It's about your freakish passion. The light pulse energy. All of us have that within us."

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The 2022 version of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School football program, under the guidance of first year head coach Rick Mantz, showed substantial will throughout the course of the season.

The Panthers had the will to get better and better with each drill, each weight lifting session, each conditioning exercise and each and every game.

As a result, the Panthers tallied four wins on the field against a nonstop barrage of talented and durable competition.

Sign Up for FREE Bridgewater/Raritan Newsletter

“We improved in many ways each week,’’ Mantz said. “We obviously made more plays in our wins, and we are very proud of how the team responded and battled and found a way to win four games. The senior night win over Old Bridge (34-0 on Oct. 21) was probably our best overall effort, the most complete game."

“Our record was 4-6 overall," he added. "We qualified for the (NJSIAA) North 1 Group 5 (Sectional Tournament) playoffs due to our extremely strong schedule. All the teams we played this year qualified for the playoffs.’’

In the quarterfinal round of the playoffs, the Panthers, seeded sixth, were defeated by third seeded Westfield Oct. 29.

Through both victory and in defeat, leadership remained solid from student athletes on the roster for Bridgewater-Raritan this year.

“Our captains all showed leadership, Colin Knapp, Colin Kurdyla, CJ Stevens, Donny Little and Joe Spirra led the way,’’ Mantz said. “However, others like Matt Maciolek stepped up along with Tom Tremarco and Frank Righetti. They all helped their teammates each week. Their work ethic and commitment truly inspired their teammates.’’

Mantz said he is proud to mention that improvements were seen all across the roster for the Panthers from this recently concluded season.

"All of our guys improved throughout the year, it’s hard to specify a few,’’ Mantz said. “We were pleased with the overall development and progress of our team.’’

There are plenty of reasons for the Panthers to be optimistic about the future, he said.

“The freshman and JV teams did a great job this year, and we have many varsity players returning who played and improved this year,’’ Mantz said. “This was the first season with a completely new offense, defense and practice regiment. Next year, both the coaches and players will have a much better understanding of what we do and how we do it."

"We had a challenging year, yet we all learned a great deal about each other and continued to work hard and improve as the season progressed," he added. "We are all very optimistic as we enter our winter conditioning and begin to prepare for next season.’’

NEW JERSEY— Taylor Swift fans in New Jersey have a message for Ticketmaster: we are never ever getting back together.

Scores of Big Apple Swifties had their wildest dreams dashed this week when they tried to score tickets for the pop star's May 26 and 27 concerts in MetLife Stadium located in East Rutherford for her "The Eras" tour.

Many waited hours online for Ticketmaster presales, only to come up with a blank space, according to a torrent of tweets. Then, to add to the bad blood, tickets went up on StubHub and other resale sites for six figures.

"Anyone wanna loan me a chill $35k to go see Taylor Swift at MetLife?" one Twitter user wrote.

Anyone wanna loan me a chill $35k to go see Taylor Swift at MetLife? #TheErasTour @Ticketmaster pic.twitter.com/7f0gVw8j4i— Katie Liebetrau (@ktliebs) November 15, 2022

"Waited patiently for 4 hours for 2 Taylor Swift tickets as Verified Fan," another fan tweeted.

"Nothing left at MetLife But StubHub is selling the whole stadium for $5k+ how do you let this happen Ticketmaster?"

Waited patiently for 4 hours for 2 Taylor Swift tickets as Verified Fan. Nothing left at MetLife But StubHub is selling the whole stadium for $5k+ how do you let this happen Ticketmaster?— Jennifer Modica (@OJGrowers) November 15, 2022

The ticket woes went far beyond New Jersey, and prompted Ticketmaster to tweet out an explanation.

"There has been historically unprecedented demand with millions showing up to buy tickets for the TaylorSwiftTix Presale," Ticketmaster's account tweeted.

But Ticketmaster's "Don't Blame Me" message did little to assuage fans.

Even New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got involved. In a tweet, she appeared to pin the troubles on Ticketmaster's 2010 merger with LiveNation.

"Daily reminder that Ticketmaster is a monopoly, its merger with LiveNation should never have been approved, and they need to be reigned in," she wrote.

"Break them up."

One fan who tweeted her struggles to find tickets — and eventually did, for $600 — told Ticketmaster executives they should know they're (in) trouble.

"Ticketmaster has no idea what they have done—they pissed off 2+ generations of girls, gays & theys + this week with this clear corporate greed/exploitation," they wrote. "I’m not sure they’re prepared for the amount of letters being written to the Justice Department& all the calls for action."

The grant awarded by Somerset County will help to preserve the Revolutionary War Middlebrook Cantonment-Maryland Encampment? in Bridgewater.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Revolutionary War Middlebrook Cantonment-Maryland Encampment in Bridgewater was among six local organizations to be awarded a grant from Somerset County's Historic Preservation Grant Program.

The Somerset County Board of Commissioners presented around $725,000 from the Historic Preservation Grant Program "to ensure the county’s rich history is never lost." The grants were allocated through a competitive process, and range from $22,000 for improved signage to more than $300,000 for a full building renovation.

The Encampment in Bridgewater was awarded $25,000 to fund two interpretive signs, a county historic marker, a required project sign, and the removal of damaged trees and underbrush.

The Revolutionary War Middlebrook Cantonment-Maryland Encampment was home to George Washington’s Continental Army during the height of the Revolutionary War, and was the site of the first official unfurling of the Flag of the United States. This event is commemorated with a reading of the Declaration of Independence every July 4 by the Washington Camp Ground Association that oversees the site.

"These great organizations and the grants Somerset County provided today show our joint commitment and partnership to preserve our great history and heritage," said Commissioner Deputy Director Melonie Marano, liaison to the Cultural and Heritage Commission. "No matter where you go in Somerset County, from Bernardsville to Franklin, from Montgomery to Bound Brook, you will find great historical sites taken care of by volunteers and non-profits, and we’re thrilled to be a part or their work with these annual Historic Preservation grants."

The annual grants are funded through the Somerset County Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund. Many of the sites have benefitted from Somerset County’s support over a period of years to ensure projects are able to move forward to completion.

Here is a full list of the 2022 Somerset County Historic Preservation grants:

Pluckemin School House, Bedminster: $27,000

The Pluckemin School House is a two-story, brick building constructed in 1912 and used as the local schoolhouse until 1958, and is noted as a pivotal building in the Pluckemin Historic District National Register Nomination Form. The site is currently home to the Center of Contemporary Art which conducts art classes, workshops, art exhibitions, and art outreach programs for children with special needs as well as workshops for adults affected with cancer. The $27,000 Somerset County Historic Preservation grant will replace the existing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramp with a new ramp including full railings, grab bars, and compressed concrete joints.

The Cottage at the Dunster Squibb Property, Bernardsville: $322,900

The Dunster Squibb Property is made up of a house first constructed in 1805 by Revolutionary War veteran John Dunster, with additions made in 1852 and a major renovation in 1905 by Charles Fellows Squib. The property is also host to a 19th century barn, caretaker’s cottage, and smoke house. The site is listed New Jersey Register of Historic Places, is proposed as a part of a National Register Nomination, and was listed as one of the state’s Most Endangered Historic Sites in 2007 by Preservation NJ. The $322,900 Somerset County Historic Preservation grant will be used to perform a major renovation on the Cottage and Barn/Stable including new floors, walls, and ceilings, ADA upgrades to various lavatories, upgrades to the furnace and air conditioning systems, and more.

Van Doren Farmstead, Franklin: $288,310

The Van Doren Farmstead is significant for its association with the early Dutch settlement of Somerset County and its collection agricultural buildings. The earliest section of the farmhouse was constructed in the mid-18th century with Dutch framing techniques, and its ongoing restoration is being overseen by Somerset County Historical Society. The $288,310 Somerset County Historic Preservation grant will fund a major exterior renovation and safety upgrades to the main house of the property.

Van der Veer-Harris House, Hillsborough: $39,000

This 18th century dwelling, with significant Colonial Revival renovations, was originally the home of a prominent local physician, Dr. Lawrence Van der Veer. In 1940 Dr. Robert Harris incorporated colonial revival style into the home’s renovation. The property is listed on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places and managed by Hillsborough Township. The $39,000 Somerset County Historic Preservation grant will fund an historic structures report that will address the Van der Veer-Harris House’s structural, electrical, plumbing and fire safety system, accessibility, and energy efficiency and help to make the facility usable for events and possibly tenancy.

Reasoner-True House, Montgomery: $22,200

The Reasoner-True House, located near the newly renovated Mount Zion AME Church, was recently purchased by the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum. The house was constructed as early as the late 18th century or early 19th century. The property is associated with African American settlement of the Sourlands region as it was purchased by a former enslaved person in 1881 and owned by African Americans until 1994. The $22,200 Somerset County Historic Preservation grant will fund interpretive signage, an historic marker, and the submission of a National Register Nomination Form.
