Let's Talk!

What is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a crucial hormone for men and plays an important role throughout the male lifespan. Most of a male's testosterone is produced through the testicles. Also called the male sex hormone, testosterone starts playing its part during puberty.

When a male goes through puberty, testosterone helps males develop:

  • Facial Hair
  • Body Hair
  • Deeper Voice
  • Muscle Strength
  • Increased Libido
  • Muscle Density

As boys turn to men and men grow older, testosterone levels deplete naturally. Sometimes, events like injuries and chronic health conditions like diabetes can lower testosterone levels. Unfortunately, when a man loses too much T, it results in hypogonadism. When this happens, the testosterone must be replaced, or the male will suffer from symptoms like muscle loss, low libido, and even depression.

How Does TRT Work?

TRT is exactly what it sounds like: a treatment option for men that replaces testosterone so that your body regulates hormones properly and restores balance to your life. Also called androgen replacement therapy, TRT alleviates the symptoms that men experience with low T.

Originally lab-synthesized in 1935, testosterone has grown in popularity since it was produced. Today, TRT and other testosterone treatments are among the most popular prescriptions in the U.S.

Without getting too deep into the science, TRT works by giving your body the essential testosterone it needs to function correctly. As the primary androgen for both males and females, testosterone impacts many of the body's natural processes – especially those needed for overall health. For example, men with low T are more prone to serious problems like cardiovascular disease and even type-2 diabetes.

When your body quits making enough testosterone, it causes your health to suffer until a solution is presented. That's where TRT and anti-aging medicine for men can help. TRT helps balance your hormones and replenish your depleted testosterone. With time, your body will begin to heal, and many symptoms like low libido and irritability begin to diminish.

What Causes Low T?

For men, aging is the biggest contributor to lower testosterone levels, though there are other causes like obesity, drug abuse, testicular injuries, and certain prescribed medications. Sometimes, long-term health conditions like AIDS, cirrhosis of the liver, and kidney disease can lower testosterone levels.

When a man's testosterone levels drop significantly, it alters his body's ratio of estrogen and testosterone. Lower testosterone levels cause more abdominal fat, which in turn results in increased aromatase, which converts even more testosterone into estrogen.

If you're concerned that you might have low T, you're not alone. Millions of men in the U.S. feel the same way. The best way to find out if your testosterone is low is to get your levels tested.

For sustainable testosterone replacement therapy benefits, you must consult with hormone doctors and experts like those you can find at Global Life Rejuvenation. That way, you can find the root cause of your hormone problems, and our team can craft a personalized HRT plan tailored to your needs.

Low Sex Drive

One of the most common reasons that men choose TRT is because they have lost that "spark" with their partner. It's not easy for a man to hear that they're not performing like they used to. Intimacy is a powerful part of any relationship. When a once-healthy sex life dwindles, it can cause serious relationship issues.

The good news is that low libido doesn't have to be a permanent problem. TRT and anti-aging medicines help revert hormone levels back into their normal range. When this happens, many men have a more enjoyable life full of intimacy and sex drive.

Inability to Achieve and Maintain an Erection

Weak erections – it's an uncomfortable subject for many men in the U.S. to talk about. It's even worse to experience first-hand. You're in the midst of an intimate moment, and you can't do your part. Despite being perfectly normal, many men put blame and shame upon themselves when they can't achieve an erection. And while the inability to perform sexually can be caused by poor diet, obesity, and chronic health conditions, low testosterone is often a contributing factor.

Fortunately, weak erections are a treatable condition. The best way to regain your confidence and ability in bed is to speak with your doctor. Once any underlying conditions are discovered, options like TRT may be the best course of treatment.

Hair Loss

Loss of Strength and Muscle Mass

Do you find it harder and harder to work out and lift weights in the gym? Are you having problems lifting heavy items that you once had no problem lifting?

Recent studies show that when men are inactive, they lose .5% of muscle strength every year, from ages 25 to 60. After 60, muscle loss doubles every decade. While some muscle loss is common as men age, a significant portion can be tied to low testosterone levels. When a man's T levels drop, so does his muscle mass.

Testosterone is a much-needed component used in gaining and retaining muscle mass. That's why many doctors prescribe TRT Delray Beach, FL, for men having problems with strength. One recent study found that men who increased their testosterone levels using TRT gained as much as 2.5 pounds of muscle mass.

Whether your gym performance is lacking, or you can't lift heavy items like you used to, don't blame it all on age. You could be suffering from hypogonadism.

Hair Loss

If you're like millions of other men in their late 20s and 30s, dealing with hair loss is a reality you don't want to face. Closely related to testosterone decline and hormone imbalances, hair loss is distressing for many men. This common symptom is often related to a derivative of testosterone called DHT. Excess amounts of DHT cause hair follicles to halt their production, causing follicles to die.

Because hair located at the front and crown is more sensitive to DHT, it grows slower than other follicles and eventually stops growing permanently. Thankfully, TRT and anti-aging treatments for men in Delray Beach, FL, is now available to address hair loss for good.

While it's true that you can't change your genes, you can change the effects of low testosterone on your body. Whether you're suffering from thinning hair or hair loss across your entire head, TRT and other hormone therapies can stop hair loss and even reverse the process.

Gynecomastia

Also called "man boobs," gynecomastia is essentially the enlargement of male breast tissue. This increase in fatty tissue is often caused by hormonal imbalances and an increase in estrogen. For men, estrogen levels are elevated during andropause. Also called male menopause, andropause usually happens because of a lack of testosterone.

If you're a man between the ages of 40 and 55, and you're embarrassed by having large breasts, don't lose hope. TRT is a safe, effective way to eliminate the underlying cause of gynecomastia without invasive surgery. With a custom HRT and fitness program, you can bring your testosterone and estrogen levels back to normal before you know it.

Decreased Energy

Decreased energy was once considered a normal part of aging. Today, many doctors know better. Advances in technology and our understanding of testosterone show that low T and lack of energy often go hand-in-hand.

If you're struggling to enjoy activities like playing with your kids or hiking in a park due to lack of energy, it could be a sign of low T. Of course, getting tired is perfectly normal for any man. But if you're suffering from continual fatigue, a lack of enjoyment, or a decrease in energy, it might be time to speak with a doctor.

Whether you're having a tough time getting through your day or can't finish activities you used to love, TRT could help.

Lack of Sleep

A study from 2011 showed that men who lose a week's worth of sleep can experience lowered testosterone levels – as much as 15%, according to experts. Additional research into the topic found almost 15% of workers only get five hours of sleep (or less) per night. These findings suggest that sleep loss negatively impacts T levels and wellbeing.

The bottom line is that men who have trouble sleeping often suffer from lower testosterone levels as a result. If you find yourself exhausted at the end of the day but toss and turn all night long, you might have low T.

TRT and anti-aging medicines can restore your T levels back to normal, which can help you sleep better with proper diet and exercise.

Depression

You're feeling down about everything, and there's no solid explanation for why you're in such a crummy mood. Your daily life is great and full of success, but you can't help but feel unexcited and unmotivated. If you're experiencing symptoms like these, you may be depressed – and it may stem from low testosterone.

A research study from Munich found that men with depression also commonly had low testosterone levels. This same study also found that depressed men had cortisol levels that were 67% higher than other men. Because higher cortisol levels lead to lower levels of testosterone, the chances of severe depression increase.

Depression is a very real disorder and should always be diagnosed and treated by your doctor. One treatment option gaining in popularity is TRT for depression. Studies show that when TRT is used to restore hormone levels, men enjoy a lighter, more improved mood. That's great news for men who are depressed and have not had success with other treatments like anti-depression medicines, which alter the brain's chemistry.

Inability to Concentrate

Ask anyone over the age of 50 how their memory is, and they'll tell you it wasn't what it used to be. Memory loss and lack of concentration occur naturally as we age – these aren't always signs of dementia or Alzheimer's.

However, what many men consider a symptom of age may be caused by low testosterone. A 2006 study found that males with low T levels performed poorly on cognitive skill tests. These results suggest that low testosterone may play a part in reducing cognitive ability. If you're having trouble staying on task or remembering what your schedule is for the day, it might not be due to your age. It might be because your testosterone levels are too low. If you're having trouble concentrating or remembering daily tasks, it could be time to talk to your doctor.

Why? The aforementioned study found that participating men experienced improved cognitive skills when using TRT.

Weight Gain

Even though today's society is more inclusive of large people, few adults enjoy gaining weight as they age. Despite their best efforts, many men just can't shed the extra pounds around their midsections, increasing their risk of heart disease and cancer.

Often, male weight gain is caused by hormone imbalances that slow the metabolism and cause weight to pile on. This phase of life is called andropause and happens when there is a lack of testosterone in the body. Couple that with high cortisol levels, and you've got a recipe for flabby guts and double chins.

Fortunately, TRT treatments and physician-led weight loss programs can correct hormone imbalances and lead to healthy weight loss for men.

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic hormone peptide, like GHRH, which triggers the release of growth hormones. When used under the care of a qualified physician, Sermorelin can help you lose weight, increase your energy levels, and help you feel much younger.

HRT For Men Delray Beach, FL

Benefits of Sermorelin

Human growth hormone (HGH) therapy has been used for years to treat hormone deficiencies. Unlike HGH, which directly replaces declining human growth hormone levels, Sermorelin addresses the underlying cause of decreased HGH, stimulating the pituitary gland naturally. This approach keeps the mechanisms of growth hormone production active.

Benefits of Sermorelin include:

  • Better Immune Function
  • Improved Physical Performance
  • More Growth Hormone Production
  • Less Body Fat
  • Build More Lean Muscle
  • Better Sleep

What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin helps to release growth hormones in a person's body by mimicking a peptide called ghrelin. Ghrelin is one of three hormones which work together to regulate the growth hormone levels released by the pituitary gland. Because Ipamorelin stimulates the body to produce growth hormone, your body won't stop its natural growth hormone production, which occurs with synthetic HGH.

Ipamorelin causes growth hormone secretion that resembles natural release patterns rather than being constantly elevated from HGH. Because ipamorelin stimulates the natural production of growth hormone, our patients can use this treatment long-term with fewer health risks.

One of the biggest benefits of Ipamorelin is that it is suitable for both men and women. It provides significant short and long-term benefits in age management therapies, boosting patients' overall health, wellbeing, and outlook on life. When growth hormone is produced by the pituitary gland using Ipamorelin, clients report amazing benefits.

Some of those benefits include:

  • Powerful Anti-Aging Properties

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. —

Joey has been homeless sleeping on Delray Beach streets for the last four years. Now, thanks to the kindness of strangers, he'll have a place to call his own.

Coming Together: Project CommUNITY

"Sleeping outside isn’t fun for nobody, especially at 63 years old," Joey said.

He's among the growing number of homeless in South Florida, but he says it's not for lack of trying.

He always had a job, worked hard and was never late. Then one thing caught up to him — having nowhere to stay.

A look at the world around us: WPBF 25 News Forecasting Our Future

"I had a job but because this is Florida and it's 80 degrees in the nighttime, you can't work too many days like that without taking a shower," he said.

His circumstance cost him his job when he was so close to starting over. Down the street, writer Frank McKinney had also just seemingly lost everything.

"We have something in common, it's just our adversities were different," McKinney said. "The day the country shut down with COVID, I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, so my whole world was shattered in an instant."

A moment of joy: News We Love

An unlikely bond formed at different rock bottoms with McKinney hearing about Joey from the community.

"Oh, that was a simple twist of fate," Joey said.

"In South Florida where the rent is just escalating, there's a guy like Joey who was making decent money but couldn't get enough for first last and security," McKinney said.

Until the moment on Friday the 13th when McKinney changed Joey's life. He handed him a check that covers all three, funded by his Delray Beach-based nonprofit, Caring House Project.

"It's euphoria, here's your apartment and here's two months' rent," Joey said.

Thanks to McKinney, Joey finally has that fresh start and when asked what he'll do first once moved in, Joey smiled and said, "Sleep for about two days."

The second thing Joey's going to do is go back to work. With this foundation, he hopes to save up and one day help someone else off the street.

Why Delray rejected all six proposals for its municipal golf course redevelopment plans

Commissioners say they had not heard much from residents until recently. Ten meetings and countless emails from residents later, the city council says 'no' to remaining four bids.

Palm Beach Post

DELRAY BEACH — For years, Delray Beach officials have discussed the redevelopment of the city’s municipal golf course and, in April, they had narrowed the plan to four proposals from outside firms.

But as of May 2, those proposals are apparently all out of bounds and unplayable.

The city commission, after 10 meetings and hours of back-and-forth with residents, voted unanimously to cancel the solicitations and reject all proposals they’d received to revamp the course that opened in 1926 and is showing every bit of its age these days.

The vote came minutes after members from the real estate firm hired last June to solicit the bids — CBRE — presented some slides detailing the remaining proposals. Originally, there had been six.

Of the four that were left, all but one would have restored all nine holes of the historic Donald Ross course. All of them would have included an 18-hole championship course and either a renovated or new clubhouse.

But they also all included selling off some land for commercial development, which is why many residents had an issue.

“There were individuals out there that had misinformation, thinking we were selling the entire golf course,” Vice-Mayor Ryan Boylston said. “Once I explained to them that it really was only 5% of the golf course and this is why we were doing it, their answer was still 'no'.”

For that reason, Boylston voted against moving forward. At a previous meeting, he’d been the deciding vote for two of the final four proposals.

“Moving forward on such a big decision with a 3-2 vote did not feel right to me,” Boylston said after sharing he’d be moving to reject all proposals this time around.

Newly elected commissioner Angela Burns followed, agreeing with Boylston. She, too, had received an influx of emails from residents disapproving of the bids throughout the weeks preceding the meeting.

“Unfortunately, lots of time and money was put into this,” she said. “I appreciate it. But, as I said during my campaign, I support the residents.”

Delray Beach soon to receive proposals for municipal golf course redevelopment

The renovations for the course were expected to cost between $10 million to $15 million. Most of that would have gone toward underground utility work.

But, as Mayor Shelly Petrolia learned during evaluations of the course, the pipes underneath it have “at least a decade left.”

“The only reason why we were going to do them was because of all the work that was going to be done on top,” Petrolia said.

Her main concern, she’d said before the vote, was not moving forward with the proposals CBRE had solicited for the city.

“I watched this happen for 10 years sitting here now,” Petrolia said. “It’s very troubling to me to get to this point and not do anything.”

Commissioner Adam Frankel, too, called it “a bad look” to not move forward.

“I'm not saying it's a bad look not to listen to you folks,” he said to the residents there.

But he wished the commission had heard a louder voice sooner from residents opposing the public-private partnership to renovate the course.

Like Burns, Commissioner Rob Long, also elected this March, thanked CBRE before telling the crowd he’d be voting to reject the proposals.

“I know an incredible amount of work went into this and there were some really great proposals,” he said. “But I don't feel that they are the right fit for Delray Beach.”

Following the vote, cheers erupted from the dozens of residents who’d been there to oppose the remaining bids. Next, the room nearly cleared as they left.

“We put forward an idea for the golf course that was innovative in earnest,” Boylston said to the room before the vote. “We thought we could leverage the private sector market and take the burden off the taxpayers to give you what you wanted, which was a championship golf course.”

What's next for the golf course?

While there's no set plan moving forward, residents are determined to get the golf course renovated, even without the public-private partnership.

The community-based group that led the initiative to oppose the proposals wants to focus on fundraising efforts.

Another idea some residents had was to use the $20 million parks bond, which was approved during this year's municipal elections.

However, the municipal golf course was not mentioned when the parks bond referendum appeared on the March ballot. Instead, it stated that funding would go toward improvements such as walking trails, covered basketball courts and staff and meeting room facilities at Catherine Strong Park and other parks across the city.

The Seagate Hotel

The Seagate Beach Club is a Delray staple for a reason. The Preferred Hotels spot is located right on Atlantic Avenue, and this low-key, elegant resort, which also has its own beach club, truly offers the best of both worlds. You get all of the fun shops and restaurants on Atlantic Avenue within walking distance, and you won’t have to fight for a spot on the beautiful beach. Back at the hotel, you can unwind at the spa or kick back at the pool. The spacious rooms have balconies overlooking the pool, so you can always tan from up there and work remotely.

The impressive beach club offers cabana service, indoor and outdoor dining, and a beachfront pool that’s perfect for kids to play around. It’s the ultimate getaway, whether you’re a local who wants some time off or a vacationer looking for water sports adventures.

The Seagate Hotel also boasts the Atlantic Grille restaurant, known for its fresh ingredients and, best of all, an overflowing dessert buffet that looks like something right out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

And if you forgot something at home, just head to the hotel’s boutique, which has total New York vibes, but with a tropical twist. You can pick up swimwear, a cover-up, or a chic sundress for dinner.

The Colony Hotel & Cabana Club

If you’re looking for somewhere else to stay, the Colony Hotel & Cabana Club is a classic in downtown Delray Beach. This bright, charming hotel was designed by an associate of famed architect Addison Mizner, and is a colorful choice with oceanfront access. It has been owned and operated by the same family since 1935, but has evolved over the years; it’s also sustainably-focused and eco-friendly.

Le Colonial

This French Vietnamese restaurant originally started out in New York City, and now has locations everywhere from Chicago to Houston, as well as a brand-new outpost in Delray Beach, which feels like a glam eatery you’d find in Palm Beach. The vibrant hot spot boasts a spacious, airy interior that’s equal parts Instagram-worthy and luxurious, as well as a moody bar with flowers galore. Le Colonial recently started serving brunch, and you’ll want to be one of the first to enjoy it, especially if you’re looking for dishes a bit more creative than the usual eggs and avocado toast.

Make sure to save room for dessert, because the restaurant is known for signature dishes like an indulgent tapioca pudding. Do keep in mind that Le Colonial has a dress code, so you’ll need to ditch your beach cover-ups and athleisure.

Elisabetta’s

This delicious Italian eatery, with another location in West Palm Beach, is situated right on the main drag and offers some of the best freshly made pasta in town. You can dine outside and people watch on Atlantic Avenue, or set up shop in the buzzy dining room.

Hawkers

This Asian street food mini-chain is a reliable choice, whether you’re visiting with family and want to dine outside with loads of room, or feel like bellying up to the bar. Located in the heart of Atlantic Avenue, Hawkers offers small plates that are fun to share with the rest of the group. Start with the roti, spicy edamame, and soup dumplings, and save room for noodles.

City Oyster and Sushi Bar

This spot on the Avenue is great for lunch during the week; you’ll always run into someone you know. At night, the restaurant transforms into a busy bar that’s packed with people. If you’re looking for solid salads and strong cocktails, The Office is another classic lunch gastro.

Dada

Dada opened in 2000, and has remained a buzzy spot in the area ever since. It’s great for special occasions because of the lush garden, funky decor, and inventive dishes. Sit underneath the twinkling lights for dinner, or grab a bite for brunch. The trendy eatery, located near the Pineapple Grove Arts District, is located inside a historic house originally built in 1924 (it’s one of the oldest homes in town), and is inspired by the Dada/Surrealist movement.

Sandbar Delray Beach

Stop by this kitschy beachside bar to indulge in a bit of day drinking during happy hour. The on-trend tiki bar is one of the most fun small-town dives, and quite literally boasts sandy floors, so feel free to wear sandals and sip on frozen cocktails like the Killer Colada or Mango Tango Slush. While Sandbar often has a DJ, if you’d prefer live music, just head down the street to Tin Roof. If you’re more of a beer drinker than a rum lover, check out the Saltwater Brewery, which has a beer garden and fun food trucks.

Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

These gorgeous gardens are an absolute must-visit if you’re traveling to Delray and looking for an activity that’s off the beaten path, as well as a nice alternative to sitting on the beach. Visit the lush gardens, check out the bonsai trees, and explore the exhibitions inside to learn about Japanese culture. The Cornell Art Museum in Old School Square is another spot to add to your list, especially if you’re a bit too sunburnt to hit the beach again.

Periwinkle

This Atlantic Avenue boutique is an ideal stop for feminine sundresses from both designers you love and ones you haven’t heard of yet.

Snappy Turtle

Snappy Turtle is one of the best preppy boutiques in the Palm Beaches. Stock up on colorful cotton dresses or head to the nearby home store to spruce up your bar cart. If you love pink and green, you’ll be in heaven once you walk inside this shop.

Two Palm Beach County beaches are among the nation's 10 most beautiful, at least by one bit of social media calculus conducted by Florida Rentals, which, to be transparent, is in the business of getting people to book rentals in the state with more than 800 miles of coastline.

The rankings, determined by the number of Instagram hashtags each beach received, placed West Palm Beach at No. 6 and Delray Beach at 10. The only other Florida beach in the top 10 was South Beach, at No. 2. The other contenders in that field were all from California and Hawaii, with La Jolla Cove, California earning top spot.

While many South Florida residents would agree to naming Delray Beach in the top 10, West Palm Beach earning any position on the list is cause for at least a bit of head scratching.

Though the city has an amazing downtown, incredible restaurants, great brewpubs, festivals and plenty of artwork, both in local museums and on display, it really doesn't have what one would call a beach.

West Palm Beach does have probably the best waterfront of all South Florida cities, with mostly unobscured views of the Lake Worth Lagoon and a pedestrian walkway along it that stretches for nearly 10 miles, but there's really no beach.

Yes, there is water. And there is land. And they do meet. But there's no white sand and nobody is setting up beach chairs and umbrellas or playing kadima. And the water? That's not ocean.

Palm Beach County beaches guide:Attractions, fun facts on each from Tequesta to Boca Raton

Is it possible that those intrepid, adventurous Instagrammers might have had their faces buried so deep in their phones that they didn't realize that they had ventured out of West Palm Beach? Absolutely. They could've traveled less than a mile over to Palm Beach or even stretched it out and been in Lake Worth Beach and not realized it.

It's also possible that they may have been visiting family and/or friends who recently moved to the area and were confused.

No matter. If the world wants to think West Palm Beach has the sixth most beautiful beach in the United States that's fine, it could always be worse. They could think the city has one of the best ski resorts or dude ranches. Talk about lost.

In our recent Palm Beach Post best beaches poll, actual locals decided that the beach at John D. MacArthur State Park is the best in Palm Beach County for 2023.

Using a bracket system similar to college basketball's March Madness, the final four came down to Juno Beach Park, Jupiter Beach Park, John D. MacArthur State Park and Dubois Park.

In the end, Juno Beach bested Jupiter Beach Park, John D. MacArthur topped Dubois Park and you know the rest.
