With more than 60 years in the music business and approaching 80 years on this earth, Rod Stewart is a name that has become synonymous with elite. From humble beginnings as a street performer with a harmonica in hand to a successful vocalist that joined forces with the likes of The Jeff Beck Group, Shotgun Express and Steampacket, Rod the Mod has tackled just about every style under the sun and amassed a worldwide album sales tally in excess of 250 million records, not to mention entering the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1994 for his solo work. All of the aforementioned honors in tow and being knighted, it would seem that this 78 year old veteran of the craft has surmounted every mountain in his path, but that same hunger that originally propelled him to greatness has remained on display with each performance that he come and gone in recent years, a fact that the attendees of the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida would be reminded of via a duo of concert extravaganzas on February 13 and 14, 2023.
Entering the stage to the blaring pipes of “Scotland The Brave”, a fitting tribute to his Scottish ancestry, Sir Stewart would mark this occasion by defying his advanced years at every turn both vocally and visually. With his massive array of support musicians and a stage setup that would rival any headliner in Vegas, the set that would ensue at the stroke of 8 PM embodied classic from start to finish. Much of the marathon, 19 song slough that culminated the evening would consist of familiar cover songs that Stewart had taken ownership of at varying points between his early days as a ‘70s rock icon up until the present, with standout performances on Cat Stevens’ acoustic folk romp “The First Cut Is The Deepest” and the gritty rocking edge of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen The Rain?” seeing this elder statesman of the genre sporting his signature raspy voice in top form. Smooth balladry courtesy Bonnie Tyler’s “It’s A Heartache” and Van Morrison’s “Have I Told You Lately” also garnered a spellbound response from the capacity crowd, with a pair of hot numbers by Stewart’s troupe of backing vocalists in “I’m Every Woman” and “Lady Marmalade” kept things cooking while the elder front man exited the stage for a couple of brief respites.
Nevertheless, Rod’s status as a songwriter was not one to be glossed over in favor of an evening paying homage to his various contemporaries, and the proverbial house would be brought down on numerous occasions via his own signature compositions. The poignant ode to coming of age that scored him a mega hit in the ‘80s heyday of music videos “Forever Young” would see one of the more heartfelt showings by Sir Stewart, though his backing singers would handle much of the higher register in light of the song’s high exposed nature. The energy factor would be kicked into overdrive with the up tempo rocker and signature banger “Young Turks”, while a Led Zeppelin-like sense of old school rocking mystique would rule the roost when Rod’s early work with Faces was tapped via “Ooh La La”. But it would be the bluesy rocking swagger of “Hot Legs” that would receive the most raucous response from the audience, as Stewart managed to conjure up a performance almost as powerful as the one graced his original late ‘70s take on rocking the house.
To state that the throngs of locals and out-of-towners that flocked to South Florida were witness to a spectacle of miraculous proportions would be putting it plainly, as an icon that goes back as far as The Rolling Stones was still moving and grooving like a rocker still in his prime. Though the pair of evenings at the Hard Rock Live would be a veritable time machine back to the bygone days when Sir Stewart was still codifying his craft, the level of passion and pizzazz that carried both days betrayed an artist that is still an active force in the studio, in contrast to many of his peers. True to his roots as a member of several noteworthy British rock bands, he proved as effective of a collaborator as he did the leading attraction, offering numerous opportunities for his vast array of backing musicians to shine in their own right. The years in the rearview may far outnumber the ones to come, but if his latest concert exploits are any indication, Rod The Mod still has many an occasion to light up the stage still ahead.

MIAMI, Feb. 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- JLL's Hotels & Hospitality Group announced today that it closed the sale of the Diplomat Beach Resort, an award-winning beachfront resort with 1,000 guest rooms in Hollywood, Florida.
JLL represented the seller, Brookfield Properties, in the transaction. A joint venture between Credit Suisse Asset Management and Trinity Fund Advisors LLC purchased the resort. The new owners also announced the signing of a management agreement with Hilton Hotels and Resorts to oversee the resort's operation under the Curio Collection by Hilton brand.
Extensively renovated and repositioned through a comprehensive $90 million dollar capital plan in 2018, the Diplomat Beach Resort is unrivaled as a world-class beachfront meeting and events-focused resort. The resort features 1,000 traditional guest rooms and suites and 200,000 square feet of integrated meeting and events space. The property consists of a twin-spired, 33-story tower housing the hotel rooms, a 14,000-square-foot spa, eight restaurants and bars plus multiple pools and cascading waterfalls. Additionally, the property is situated on 10 acres of Atlantic Ocean beachfront offering kayaking, paddleboarding and jet ski rentals.

It's a match made in hip-hop heaven: Two of the biggest acts in the genre's history, Nas and Wu-Tang Clan, are hitting the road together.
The rap behemoths will bring their joint-headlining NY State of Mind Tour to Hard Rock Live on Friday, September 22. It's one of three Florida dates alongside shows in Tampa and Jacksonville.
Fans of the 1990s golden age of hip-hop are already acquainted with both Nasty Nas and the Killa Bees, but here's a refresher. Both came to prominence off their extremely well-received debut albums, Nas with Illmatic in 1994 and the Wu with Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers a year earlier. While Nasir Jones channeled the grit and struggle of life in the Queensbridge projects, where he was raised into serious, powerful street rap, the RZA, the GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah, and Method Man created an epochal, game-changing album combining gangsta bravado with kung-fu movie samples and stark production.
These two powerful forces in rap touring together is pretty unprecedented. The Wu tends to come to Miami frequently thanks to a healthy relationship with III Points. The group played the festival in 2021, an Art Week showcase in 2017, and RZA even performed a live score at III Points in 2018. Nas, meanwhile, tends to spend his time in Miami making appearances at bottle service clubs like E11even and Story.

Trinity Investments is teaming up with Credit Suisse to acquire Hollywood’s Diplomat Beach Resort and adjacent properties for $850 million, The Real Deal has learned. The joint venture also tapped Miami-based Related Group and Aventura-based BH Group to co-develop two towers on the development sites.
The deal, which would be among the largest commercial sales on record in South Florida, is scheduled to close on Friday, according to a source close to one of the joint venture partners.The deal includes the oceanfront, 1,000-room hotel at 3555 Ocean Drive, two garages with a retail component and the pair of development sites on the Intracoastal Waterway.
JLL is representing the seller, New York-based Brookfield Property Partners, which previously tried to sell the Diplomat and the adjacent sites to Aventura-based developer Jeffrey Soffer. The billionaire also planned to pay $850 million, but that deal fell apart last year.
Trinity stepped in, went under contract and sought partners that could co-develop the vacant parcels that are next to the garages at 3460 South Ocean Drive, the source said. Jaret Turkell and Scott Wadler of Berkadia arranged the sale of the development sites from Trinity to Related and BH.
One site is approved for a project with 350 condo units, and the other one is approved for a 500-room hotel with 68,000 square feet of retail.
Spokespeople for Trinity, Credit Suisse, Related Group and BH Group declined comment. A Brookfield spokesperson did not respond to an email requesting comment.

In 2014, Thayer Lodging Group acquired the Diplomat Beach Resort and adjoining sites totaling 10 acres for $460 million, records show. Later in the same year, Brookfield bought Thayer.
In 2017, Brookfield completed a $100 million renovation of the resort. In 2019, before the pandemic, Brookfield listed the Diplomat and adjacent properties for $1 billion.
The luxury hotel has 515 king rooms, 484 double rooms, 96 suites, several restaurants and more than 200,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Trinity is a Honolulu-based real estate investment firm led by CEO Sean Hehir. In 2021, Trinity and Certares Real Estate Management paid $174 million for East, Miami, a 352-key hotel at Brickell City Centre in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood.
Related, led by CEO Jorge Pérez, and BH Group, led by Isaac Toledano, are partnering on other residential projects in South Florida. This month, the Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency approved a non-binding letter of intent with Related and BH Group to build an affordable housing multifamily project in Marina Village.
BH Group and Related are also partnering with billionaire Teddy Sagi and Chicago-based Wanxiang America RE Group to build a 50-unit luxury condominium on Fisher Island. In September, the joint venture paid $122.5 million for Fisher Island’s last development site.
