This October was the driest on record according to US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly, fueling very high fire danger.
"When conditions become this dry, the simplest things can start a wildfire," said Bill Donnelly, State Forest Fire warden and Chief of the Forest Fire Service. "In my 30-year career with the Forest Fire Service, I can't recall a time when we faced such a prolonged period of dry weather with no relief in sight."
Overnight, showers provided little relief and rain chances remain low in the coming days.

FAR HILLS, NJ - Hans Clothier celebrated their two year anniversary on Saturday, September 28th. Located in Far Hills, New Jersey, Hans Clothier is a specialized menswear store featuring timeless styles and innovative brands tailored to the modern gentleman's daily life. The curated collection offers brands such as Barbour, Faherty, Greyson, Rails, and Smathers & Branson.
Sisters Rachel and Morgan Colwell launched Hans Clothier in September 2022. They saw a unique opportunity for a men’s store in Somerset County, took a leap of faith and opened their own business. Rachel says "Thanks to this amazing community, the past two years have been a dream come true. We're so excited for what's to come."
Hans Clothier is named after their father, Eric Hans Colwell, who inspired them to pursue their dreams. The store is a genuine family effort, with everyone contributing. Rachel and Morgan work well together, managing different daily tasks while sharing a unified vision for the future of Hans Clothier.
