What is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a crucial hormone for men and plays an important role throughout the male lifespan. Most of a male's testosterone is produced through the testicles. Also called the male sex hormone, testosterone starts playing its part during puberty.

When a male goes through puberty, testosterone helps males develop:

  • Facial Hair
  • Body Hair
  • Deeper Voice
  • Muscle Strength
  • Increased Libido
  • Muscle Density

As boys turn to men and men grow older, testosterone levels deplete naturally. Sometimes, events like injuries and chronic health conditions like diabetes can lower testosterone levels. Unfortunately, when a man loses too much T, it results in hypogonadism. When this happens, the testosterone must be replaced, or the male will suffer from symptoms like muscle loss, low libido, and even depression.

How Does TRT Work?

TRT is exactly what it sounds like: a treatment option for men that replaces testosterone so that your body regulates hormones properly and restores balance to your life. Also called androgen replacement therapy, TRT alleviates the symptoms that men experience with low T.

Originally lab-synthesized in 1935, testosterone has grown in popularity since it was produced. Today, TRT and other testosterone treatments are among the most popular prescriptions in the U.S.

Without getting too deep into the science, TRT works by giving your body the essential testosterone it needs to function correctly. As the primary androgen for both males and females, testosterone impacts many of the body's natural processes – especially those needed for overall health. For example, men with low T are more prone to serious problems like cardiovascular disease and even type-2 diabetes.

When your body quits making enough testosterone, it causes your health to suffer until a solution is presented. That's where TRT and anti-aging medicine for men can help. TRT helps balance your hormones and replenish your depleted testosterone. With time, your body will begin to heal, and many symptoms like low libido and irritability begin to diminish.

What Causes Low T?

For men, aging is the biggest contributor to lower testosterone levels, though there are other causes like obesity, drug abuse, testicular injuries, and certain prescribed medications. Sometimes, long-term health conditions like AIDS, cirrhosis of the liver, and kidney disease can lower testosterone levels.

When a man's testosterone levels drop significantly, it alters his body's ratio of estrogen and testosterone. Lower testosterone levels cause more abdominal fat, which in turn results in increased aromatase, which converts even more testosterone into estrogen.

If you're concerned that you might have low T, you're not alone. Millions of men in the U.S. feel the same way. The best way to find out if your testosterone is low is to get your levels tested.

For sustainable testosterone replacement therapy benefits, you must consult with hormone doctors and experts like those you can find at Global Life Rejuvenation. That way, you can find the root cause of your hormone problems, and our team can craft a personalized HRT plan tailored to your needs.

Low Sex Drive

One of the most common reasons that men choose TRT is because they have lost that "spark" with their partner. It's not easy for a man to hear that they're not performing like they used to. Intimacy is a powerful part of any relationship. When a once-healthy sex life dwindles, it can cause serious relationship issues.

The good news is that low libido doesn't have to be a permanent problem. TRT and anti-aging medicines help revert hormone levels back into their normal range. When this happens, many men have a more enjoyable life full of intimacy and sex drive.

Inability to Achieve and Maintain an Erection

Weak erections – it's an uncomfortable subject for many men in the U.S. to talk about. It's even worse to experience first-hand. You're in the midst of an intimate moment, and you can't do your part. Despite being perfectly normal, many men put blame and shame upon themselves when they can't achieve an erection. And while the inability to perform sexually can be caused by poor diet, obesity, and chronic health conditions, low testosterone is often a contributing factor.

Fortunately, weak erections are a treatable condition. The best way to regain your confidence and ability in bed is to speak with your doctor. Once any underlying conditions are discovered, options like TRT may be the best course of treatment.

Loss of Strength and Muscle Mass

Do you find it harder and harder to work out and lift weights in the gym? Are you having problems lifting heavy items that you once had no problem lifting?

Recent studies show that when men are inactive, they lose .5% of muscle strength every year, from ages 25 to 60. After 60, muscle loss doubles every decade. While some muscle loss is common as men age, a significant portion can be tied to low testosterone levels. When a man's T levels drop, so does his muscle mass.

Testosterone is a much-needed component used in gaining and retaining muscle mass. That's why many doctors prescribe TRT Rutherford, NJ, for men having problems with strength. One recent study found that men who increased their testosterone levels using TRT gained as much as 2.5 pounds of muscle mass.

Whether your gym performance is lacking, or you can't lift heavy items like you used to, don't blame it all on age. You could be suffering from hypogonadism.

Hair Loss

If you're like millions of other men in their late 20s and 30s, dealing with hair loss is a reality you don't want to face. Closely related to testosterone decline and hormone imbalances, hair loss is distressing for many men. This common symptom is often related to a derivative of testosterone called DHT. Excess amounts of DHT cause hair follicles to halt their production, causing follicles to die.

Because hair located at the front and crown is more sensitive to DHT, it grows slower than other follicles and eventually stops growing permanently. Thankfully, TRT and anti-aging treatments for men in Rutherford, NJ, is now available to address hair loss for good.

While it's true that you can't change your genes, you can change the effects of low testosterone on your body. Whether you're suffering from thinning hair or hair loss across your entire head, TRT and other hormone therapies can stop hair loss and even reverse the process.

Also called "man boobs," gynecomastia is essentially the enlargement of male breast tissue. This increase in fatty tissue is often caused by hormonal imbalances and an increase in estrogen. For men, estrogen levels are elevated during andropause. Also called male menopause, andropause usually happens because of a lack of testosterone.

If you're a man between the ages of 40 and 55, and you're embarrassed by having large breasts, don't lose hope. TRT is a safe, effective way to eliminate the underlying cause of gynecomastia without invasive surgery. With a custom HRT and fitness program, you can bring your testosterone and estrogen levels back to normal before you know it.

Decreased Energy

Decreased energy was once considered a normal part of aging. Today, many doctors know better. Advances in technology and our understanding of testosterone show that low T and lack of energy often go hand-in-hand.

If you're struggling to enjoy activities like playing with your kids or hiking in a park due to lack of energy, it could be a sign of low T. Of course, getting tired is perfectly normal for any man. But if you're suffering from continual fatigue, a lack of enjoyment, or a decrease in energy, it might be time to speak with a doctor.

Whether you're having a tough time getting through your day or can't finish activities you used to love, TRT could help.

Lack of Sleep

A study from 2011 showed that men who lose a week's worth of sleep can experience lowered testosterone levels – as much as 15%, according to experts. Additional research into the topic found almost 15% of workers only get five hours of sleep (or less) per night. These findings suggest that sleep loss negatively impacts T levels and wellbeing.

The bottom line is that men who have trouble sleeping often suffer from lower testosterone levels as a result. If you find yourself exhausted at the end of the day but toss and turn all night long, you might have low T.

TRT and anti-aging medicines can restore your T levels back to normal, which can help you sleep better with proper diet and exercise.

You're feeling down about everything, and there's no solid explanation for why you're in such a crummy mood. Your daily life is great and full of success, but you can't help but feel unexcited and unmotivated. If you're experiencing symptoms like these, you may be depressed – and it may stem from low testosterone.

A research study from Munich found that men with depression also commonly had low testosterone levels. This same study also found that depressed men had cortisol levels that were 67% higher than other men. Because higher cortisol levels lead to lower levels of testosterone, the chances of severe depression increase.

Depression is a very real disorder and should always be diagnosed and treated by your doctor. One treatment option gaining in popularity is TRT for depression. Studies show that when TRT is used to restore hormone levels, men enjoy a lighter, more improved mood. That's great news for men who are depressed and have not had success with other treatments like anti-depression medicines, which alter the brain's chemistry.

Inability to Concentrate

Ask anyone over the age of 50 how their memory is, and they'll tell you it wasn't what it used to be. Memory loss and lack of concentration occur naturally as we age – these aren't always signs of dementia or Alzheimer's.

However, what many men consider a symptom of age may be caused by low testosterone. A 2006 study found that males with low T levels performed poorly on cognitive skill tests. These results suggest that low testosterone may play a part in reducing cognitive ability. If you're having trouble staying on task or remembering what your schedule is for the day, it might not be due to your age. It might be because your testosterone levels are too low. If you're having trouble concentrating or remembering daily tasks, it could be time to talk to your doctor.

Why? The aforementioned study found that participating men experienced improved cognitive skills when using TRT.

Weight Gain

Even though today's society is more inclusive of large people, few adults enjoy gaining weight as they age. Despite their best efforts, many men just can't shed the extra pounds around their midsections, increasing their risk of heart disease and cancer.

Often, male weight gain is caused by hormone imbalances that slow the metabolism and cause weight to pile on. This phase of life is called andropause and happens when there is a lack of testosterone in the body. Couple that with high cortisol levels, and you've got a recipe for flabby guts and double chins.

Fortunately, TRT treatments and physician-led weight loss programs can correct hormone imbalances and lead to healthy weight loss for men.

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic hormone peptide, like GHRH, which triggers the release of growth hormones. When used under the care of a qualified physician, Sermorelin can help you lose weight, increase your energy levels, and help you feel much younger.

 HRT For Men Rutherford, NJ

Benefits of Sermorelin

Human growth hormone (HGH) therapy has been used for years to treat hormone deficiencies. Unlike HGH, which directly replaces declining human growth hormone levels, Sermorelin addresses the underlying cause of decreased HGH, stimulating the pituitary gland naturally. This approach keeps the mechanisms of growth hormone production active.

Benefits of Sermorelin include:

  • Better Immune Function
  • Improved Physical Performance
  • More Growth Hormone Production
  • Less Body Fat
  • Build More Lean Muscle
  • Better Sleep
 Human Growth Hormone Rutherford, NJ

What is Ipamorelin?

Ipamorelin helps to release growth hormones in a person's body by mimicking a peptide called ghrelin. Ghrelin is one of three hormones which work together to regulate the growth hormone levels released by the pituitary gland. Because Ipamorelin stimulates the body to produce growth hormone, your body won't stop its natural growth hormone production, which occurs with synthetic HGH.

Ipamorelin causes growth hormone secretion that resembles natural release patterns rather than being constantly elevated from HGH. Because ipamorelin stimulates the natural production of growth hormone, our patients can use this treatment long-term with fewer health risks.

 Ipamorelin Rutherford, NJ

Reunited and it feels so good.

Per The Bergen Record’s Art Stapleton:

Blast from the not-so-distant #Giants past: Safety Andrew Adams, former Landon Collins Home Run Derby champion, was part of the workout group (Monday). Two additional offensive tackles alongside Kendall Lamm: Caleb Benenoch and Kamaal Seymour of Rutgers.

A little reunion: Giants are expected to sign free agent S Andrew Adams. Double-A back where he started as UDFA in 2016. Some experience added to secondary. Adams has played in 87 career games.

The move comes as Giants veterans report Tuesday for training camp at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford.

Want to bet on the NFL?

The 29-year-old Adams joined the Giants in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of UConn. He played in 30 games over two seasons, making 17 starts. Adams spent the last four years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Giants also worked out free-agent tight end Eric Ebron on Monday, according to Stapleton.

#Giants had free agent TE Eric Ebron in today as part of a larger workout. No signing yet, but would be intriguing fit at a position whose depth chart seems wide open outside of rookie Daniel Bellinger, currently on PUP. Might just be matter of taking a look. We’ll see. I’m told #Giants also worked out free agent OT Kendall Lamm as part of the larger workout today that included Eric Ebron.

The New York Post reports Bellinger, a fourth-round draft pick, has a quad injury.

Bellinger is expected to compete for playing time at tight end with veterans Ricky Seals-Jones and Jordan Akins, both of whom signed with the Giants during the offseason. Per Stapleton:

Giants do not have a ton of guaranteed money invested at tight end with RSJ and Akins, so makes sense to explore options. I don’t believe checking on Ebron is a reflection on Bellinger being on PUP.

Giants training camp preview: 5 keys for Brian Daboll, battles to watch, veterans on the bubble, more

At this time last year, there was hope. The Giants went 6-10 in 2020, but still nearly snuck their way into the playoffs. They showed enough that co-owner John Mara approved a spending spree. At this time last year, there was hope. The Giants went 6-10 in 2020, but still nearly snuck their way into the playoffs. They showed enough that co-owner John Mara approved a spending spree. That ... was a bad idea. The 2021 season was a disaster, and now the Giants look like an entirely new organization heading into 2022.

No, really, they actually look different. Dave Gettleman and Joe Judge are out, Joe Schoen (GM) and Brian Daboll (head coach) are in. And both Schoen and Daboll have completely revamped the front office and coaching staff.

Now, the Giants are finally, truly, rebuilding. Expectations are low for this season — but optimism for the future is high. This season will be more about evaluating what the Giants have, and if it’s good enough to keep around beyond this season — especially at quarterback.

Or, maybe, with some competence at coach and GM, perhaps the Giants can surprise some people. Time will tell.

Day of Daboll: The Giants offense has been its biggest problem the last two years, one of the worst in the NFL under Judge and Jason Garrett’s watch. Daboll has been credited with helping turn Josh Allen into a superstar and building the Bills into one of the best and most explosive offenses in the league. The Giants aren’t as talented top to bottom, but Daboll has some intriguing pieces to work with — and how that shapes out in training camp will be intriguing to watch.

Daniel’s last stand: The Giants declined Daniel Jones’ fifth-year option for 2023, making so it really is do-or-die for him in 2022. Jones is playing for a coach and GM that had no hand in drafting him in the first round back in 2019 — and he hasn’t shown enough in his career to earn their long-term trust either. If Jones comes out and has a career year, he can force the Giants hand, either a franchise tag or lucrative new contract in the offseason. If not, they’ll move on.

Rebuilt O-Line: Gettleman promised to fix the offensive line and it only got worse. On paper, this O-Line that Schoen constructed this offseason looks like the best in years, which admittedly isn’t saying much. Andrew Thomas is locked in at left tackle, and Schoen added reinforcements elsewhere, including right tackle (rookie Evan Neal), right guard (Mark Glowinski) and center (Jon Feliciano).

The Curious Case of Kadarius: The Giants got the full Kadarius Toney experience as a rookie. His first year was full of injuries and controversy — and tantalizing talent. He was spectacular in a two-game stretch against the Saints and Cowboys, but otherwise was often either a non-factor or unavailable. If Toney can stay focused, and healthy, he could be a surprise star. But neither of those things is guaranteed. Beyond Toney, the Giants would like to have all their weapons (including Saquon Barkley and Kenny Golladay) actually healthy and playing together.

Saquon’s comeback? The Giants have been waiting for Barkley to return to the form of his dominant rookie season for each of the last three years. Mostly due to injuries, it hasn’t happened. And now all of a sudden Barkley is in the last year of his deal. He’s entering training camp healthier than he has been in a while — and if it lasts, maybe he can help push this Giants offense into relevance. Or, maybe they’ll trade him at the deadline.

Want to bet on the NFL?

- WR Darius Slayton: His career got off to such a promising start in 2019 (740 yards, eight touchdowns) and he was still solid in 2020 too (751 yards, three touchdowns). That’s great production for a fifth-round pick. But Slayton struggled quite a bit in 2021, with drops and general production. Then in the spring, he failed to stand out even as everyone locked in ahead of him on the depth chart — Toney, Golladay, Sterling Shepard — were out with injuries.

- TE Ricky Seals-Jones: When the Giants signed him this offseason — after moving on from both Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph — it seemed like he was penciled in to start at tight end. Then the Giants drafted Daniel Bellinger in the fourth round, signed veteran Jordan Akins, plus Austin Allen as an undrafted free agent. In the spring, Seals-Jones lost out on starters reps to Bellinger as even Allen got some first-team reps.

- G Max Garcia: Like Seals-Jones, Garcia signed as a veteran with plentiful experience (52 starts) expected to compete to start at left guard. Instead, he didn’t appear to be a serious candidate for that starting job in the spring and appeared to fall behind some other options as a potential backup.

Nickel cornerback: Darnay Holmes vs. Cor’Dale Flott

For the second straight year, the Giants drafted a cornerback with an eye toward upgrading a position manned by Holmes, who was drafted in 2020. Last year’s pick (Aaron Robinson) is expected to start on the outside. Holmes is still the favorite to start over Flott, but the LSU product was picked in the third round for a reason.

Tight End: Daniel Bellinger vs. Ricky Seals-Jones vs. Jordan Akins

In the spring, Bellinger got the most reps with the first team and stood out compared to his competition. He was drafted in the fourth round and is a more complete tight end — in terms of blocking and receiving — than the Giants are used to. But Seals-Jones (54 career games, 15 starts) and Akins (58 games, 23 starts) have much more NFL experience.

No. 3 running back: Gary Brightwell vs. Jashaun Corbin vs. Antonio Williams

On most teams, the third-string running back wouldn’t matter much. But both of the Giants’ top two running backs (Saquon Barkley, Matt Breida) have extensive injury histories, so the third-stringer might have to play at some point. Brightwell was drafted in the sixth round in 2021, but he’s better suited for a special teams role. Corbin, an undrafted rookie, was productive in college and is an intriguing athlete. Williams was with Daboll as a member of the Bills.

“I honestly feel bad for Daniel,” Tate told NJ Advance Media on Wednesday. “He was drafted into a rebuilding organization for one, had Pat Shurmur for a year and then got Joe Judge for two years, now another head coach and another rebuild going into his fourth season. He hasn’t had Saquon [Barkley], myself, [Kenny] Golladay, Sterling [Shepard] – no one is ever on the field at the same time. And then on top of that, he had [Jason] Garrett [as his offensive coordinator] and that probably didn’t help much.

“So you kind of feel bad for him because a ton of talent. He has a lot of talent but he just hasn’t had much help due to injuries and how they set it up.”

Tate spoke at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City as he prepared for the Icons Series, a new two-day golf competition that matches up a U.S. team of 12 big-name pro athletes from outside the world of golf against an international team in a format similar to the Ryder Cup.

Tate, 33, last played for the Giants in 2020 and hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the team cut him last year. Tate is focused on golf and baseball now – he’s started five games in center field for the Port Angeles Lefties of the West Coast league after signing with the Washington-based team earlier this month.

But he still feels a strong connection to the Giants and will be watching closely this fall – especially when it comes to Jones. And he’s hoping that under new coach Brian Daboll, Jones will have the opportunity to show what he’s capable of.

“I’m looking forward to [them] just letting him loose, man,” Tate said. “Just let him go out there and play ball. He’s a smart guy. He’s going to make good decisions. But you’ve got to set him up to be successful. And I’m just hoping that those guys rally because this is the one thing I know about DJ: he’s going to be prepared. He’s going to be prepared and he’s going to follow what you want him to do. But let him play ball, too. Let him play ball. Get the ball to your playmakers and let them go.”

No one is sure what it will look like when Jones takes the field this fall with the Giants amid another rebuild. But the stakes are clear for Jones, the No. 6 overall pick in 2019, after the Giants didn’t pick up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal this offseason after three up-and-down seasons.

Jones, 25, could still be the Giants’ quarterback of the future – if he plays well. But if he struggles, he’ll be moving on and the Giants will be looking for his replacement next year.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Tate said. “I know DJ is – I think he knows and believes that this is a very important year for his career and he’s probably feeling a little pressure. But I know with his preparation, he’s going to be ready. But being healthy is key.”

Jones missed the final six games of last season with a neck injury but is expected to be ready for training camp. Running back Saquon Barkley and receiver Kenny Golladay, both dogged by injuries in 2021, are expected to be ready for training camp as well. And while Tate has sympathy for Jones after his first-hand experience of these recent difficult seasons for the franchise, he also has fond memories of the Giants will be pulling for them to turn it around.

“I like the Giants, man,” Tate said. “Love the organization. Love the players that they have, I just hope they put it together, you know? Man, I grew up watching the Giants and just remember them just being elite. Even when I signed my contract and walked through the halls, you could just feel the history. The NFL is not what it is today without the teams that they had and so you want to get back to that, man. So I’m really rooting for them.”

But Tate will spend the next few days cheering on his teammates at Liberty National during the Icons Series. He joins a U.S. team that is captained by hall of fame golfer Fred Couples (who led the U.S. Presidents Cup team to victory on this course in 2017) and features some massive sports names including former Giant Michael Strahan, legendary swimmer Michael Phelps, recently retired Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Hall-of-Fame running back Marshall Faulk and former Falcons, Eagles and Jets quarterback Michael Vick.

Tate and his teammates will face an International team led by another hall of fame golfer, Ernie Els. The international team features plenty of big names as well, including Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane, multiple world champion boxer Canelo Alvarez, former tennis World No. 1 Ash Barty, cricket legend Brian Lara and hall of fame catcher Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez.

The tournament will feature three 10-hole matches each day, a shorter format designed to provide a shorter and more engaging experience for golf viewers and spectators. Tickets start at $25 and are available at The end of the tournament will be broadcast Friday afternoon on the Peacock app from 2-6:30 p.m.
